Great one bedroom but over priced

Apartment is in great location but cheaper construction/appliances because it is a rental property-think I pay too much for the value. The owners live in the apartment building and are super nice and friendly but coming from a handy family, I wouldn't say he is is the handiest when it comes to fixing things. Its a smaller company so I am used to lots of handymen from other companies like pearl properties who are certified and know how to get things fixed properly. Very quiet, living on walnut is hard with constant traffic and noise but its so quiet and I love that!

Excellent place to live!

Great location in the middle of Center City, though it can sometimes get noisy. Great restaurants and dessert shops nearby. Close to major metro, trolley, and bus lines; can get to pretty much anywhere in the city in less than thirty minutes without a transfer. Little inconvenient to get groceries since most supermarkets are almost outside walking distance. Management is very responsive. Open floor plan. Washer/dryer in unit; powerful a/c (almost too powerful); nice finishes. Gets great light during the day.

Incredible Loft Style Apartment

I've lived at 1334 Walnut for almost six months now and it's been an amazing experience. Our two bedroom apartment has all the features I was looking for -- tons of space, high ceilings, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, and lots of closet storage -- and it all comes at a very reasonable price. You don't get a lot of the frills you might have at more expensive buildings (e.g. Doorman, Fitness Center, Swimming Pool), but honestly I don't really use a lot of those features so I'd prefer not to pay for it. It's also located in perhaps the best part of Philly. Many of Philly's best restaurants and bars are just a block or two away and there is an abundance of Public Transportation options. The 21/42 bus stops right outside of the apartment, and the Market-Frankford Line and the Broad Street line are less than 5 minutes away. There are also a couple of really well priced gyms within 2 blocks. I just signed up for 12th street gym because it has the cheapest indoor basketball gym in the city. My only complaint is that if you want fresh groceries, you have to walk 10-15 minutes (either Reading Terminal or Super Fresh/Whole Foods). It's really not a terrible walk, but I imagine I'll make far fewer trips to the grocery store when it gets colder. There is a Walgreens a block away though that I frequent. Overall, I highly recommend living at 1334 Walnut.

Hidden Gem in the Heart of Center City

This is a great apartment for grad students and young professionals who want to live in the center of downtown, get higher-end in-unit features, and still pay a fair price. I live in a 2BR apartment – it’s spacious and the finishes are nice. The bathrooms and kitchen are high quality, and the bedrooms are larger than others that my roommate and I saw in a similar price range. The ceilings are high, and the vent system does a great job at cooling the apartment, even during the summer. I don’t find the lack of a doorman to be a hindrance at all – there is a really convenient buzzer system that goes straight to your cell phone so you can let in delivery people remotely and still pick up packages. The location is great, as you’re right by some of the best restaurants and bars in Philly and there are plenty of quick food options. It’s also near a 24-hour Walgreens which is very convenient and Dunkin Donuts is right next door. There is a bus stop directly across the street that takes you up and down Walnut which is perfect for students who need to get to University City (10-20 minutes total trip to University City, but virtually no walking). The management is great and highly responsive and is much more accessible than the type you’d encounter at some other properties. That said, with the location does come street noise. If your room is on the north side (my roommate does not complain about noise) you will definitely get a fair amount of noise from Walnut and Broad Street as well as people walking around late night. I find it very worthwhile given the location and quality of the building, but it’s something to be mindful of. Overall, I would highly recommend the building.

Midtown Village Reviews

Access to restaurants, attractions, and shops in Center City and even nearby in South Philly or Rittenhouse Square is superb. There is generally a lot of street traffic and drug addiction and homelessness are common in the area, but typically not a source of harm for passersby and also not much different than in any other major urban center in the U.S.
Best neighborhood in Center City - can't beat the price for what you get. Amazing location, just a short walk to Rittenhouse or Old City. Can't beat living in the heart of Center City, and only a 7 minute walk to the hospital. Plenty of night life.
Some crime in the area, but overall, great bar and restaurant scene with easy access to public transit.
Center city is arguably safe but sometimes there are some issues. Police are responsive.
Midtown Village is quickly becoming one of the best places in Philly to live. The quick downside is there's a lot of construction in the area, but that's also the positive if you're okay with the feel of a city that's constantly changing. The area already has lots of great bars and restaurants, and all the new construction is adding in great new options for grocery, coffee, and convenience items. There's now a Target, Mom's Grocery, multiple Wawas, Sweetgreen, etc. all in close proximity to mainstays like Reading Terminal.
Midtown Village is a fast-growing and both has great mainstay restaurants like El Vez and Barbuzzo as well as amazing chains like Chipotle and Sweet Green. The addition of a Target, Wawa, CVS, Starbucks, and Petco makes it even more accessible and naturally the location is as central as you can be in Philadelphia. In comparing options, you usually can get a bit of a discount versus Rittenhouse Square and Old City, mainly because the Midtown Village brand is still being built up, but you really can't beat the location and access to amenities. The only thing it's missing is a full-service grocery store, but between Reading Terminal Market, Target, Walgreens, and CVS you're pretty set. The main downside can be the noise and litter that comes with being in the heart of downtown, but it's a trade off I'm more than willing to make and has been getting better with time.
I love this neighborhood! It's very lively and great for young adults. There are a lot of cool restaurants/bars around. It's a little pricey but what can you expect from being in the center of a city like Philadelphia?
The area is filled with lots of young people. I don't feel unsafe walking around even at night because there are people out all the time. There are a couple of narrow streets I probably wouldn't walk through though.
The neighborhood is amazing and getting better every day! It combines access to great daily conveniences (coffee shops, Target, Wawa, etc.) with some of the best independent restaurants and bars in Philly. The location is incredibly central overall and transit options can get you pretty much anywhere in the city. It can get a bit noisy, though that's the price you pay for being downtown.
