Morgan Properties - Lakewood Hills

This apartment was detrimental to mine and my roommate's well-being and mental health.

Our A/C broke within the first week of moving in. We came home to a 97 degree apartment and had to fight with emergency maintenance to get someone there to fix it. The A/C couldn't be fixed that night so we had to live with a small temporary A/C unit that barely changed the temperature.

Our heat broke twice and we only lived in the apartment for 10 months.

The electrical outlets were so old that one of them in the master bedroom caught fire and exploded in the middle of the night. Months later all of the outlets ion the bedroom circuit shorted out and a professional electrician had to come to fix the issue. This professional then told us that all of the outlets in the apartment were unsafe because the building was so old.

We also had extreme water damage to the roof in our apartment. We woke up at 3 am to water pouring out of the smoke alarm. The whole ceiling in our hallway and hallway closet were damaged and continued to leak for about a month before any action was taken. My roommate and I complained daily to the leasing office and maintenance team. We also had to send them a certified letter to get them to take us seriously. When someone came to fix the issue, the big solution was to paint over the stain in about five minutes.

We had mice in this apartment that we ended up taking care of ourselves. There was also a spider infestation on our deck that was never taken care of my maintenance.

The neighbors in the complex smoked marijuana all the time and the smell came into our air vents causing daily headaches for me and my roommate.

A neighbor's child threw up in the shared hallway and it was never cleaned even though we reported it to the leasing office and they said it would be taken care of.

The general upkeep and overall appearance of the shared spaces in the building was horrific and difficult to deal with.

There was only one smoke alarm for the whole apartment, which got damaged by the water leak. We told maintenance we needed more and they let us live with no smoke alarms for about a month. We eventually had to buy our own smoke alarms so that we could feel safe in our own home.

This place is not suitable for law students. It caused so many issues for us and distracted from our schoolwork. We wanted to buy out of our lease but were given misleading information that led to us paying more than we had to in order to leave a month early.
