Cozy and comfortable and within walking distance of school and restaurants
This space is the top floor of a house in Little Italy, and has been a comfortable, convenient place for me to live, both as a medical student and as a graduate student. Despite being part of a house, this unit is fully contained within itself, in that it has its own bathroom, kitchen, bedrooms, and sunroom for extra storage. It is situated a stone's throw away from the Italian restaurants that comprise the neighborhood, a 10-minute walk from school, and 15 minutes from the University Circle area, which boasts attractions such as the art museum, botanical gardens, and Severance Hall (home of the Cleveland orchestra). Our Little Italy home has a comfortable, lived-in feel to it that is cozy, especially during the winter when the radiators are on -- yet it is spacious enough to accommodate two people and a few guests. The landlord is hands-off, but he is well-connected within the neighborhood and replies within a reasonable amount of time to maintenance requests. My main complaints with the apartment are the lack of sunlight (due to windows that face other houses), the lack of a washer and dryer within the building, and the kitchen floor, which looks like some weird underlayment and tends to collect dirt if not cleaned regularly. However, for the amount of square footage we get, and for its ideal location on one of the main roads of Little Italy, this is a great and cost-effective place to live. Also, our neighborhood is a refreshing mixture of students, families, and old-time Italian residents, which means that the living environment can offer something for everyone. I'm very happy to be living here, and will likely continue to do so until I graduate.
