Outdated but (relatively) affordable and close!
Apartment is close to the football stadium and 15 minute walk to the law school--both great! However, the landlord does rent out the parking lot during gamedays, so there have been some incidents with drunk people peeing outside windows at the early hours on weekends.
However, the landlord, Kam, is very responsive and gets on maintenance issues right away. The building is definitely older and has been "redone" kind of cheaply, but is in a great location and can be made cute with some effort.

Above-average for Ann Arbor
Good square footage; somewhat updated amenities; great location to downtown and UM campus; age of the building/unit show at times however no major issues thus far.

No frills, but nice place with solid landlord
Our charming 2 bed, 1 bath apartment is in the group of brown building on Brown St. It's nice to have a strong community of Rossers on and around Brown St, and we're far enough away from undergrads that it's not loud. We're right near the Bus tailgate and the football stadium which is great. It's also just under a 15 minute walk to Ross which is nice.
The building itself looks like a Soviet-era bunker, but it's well maintained and comfortable on the inside. It's not super fancy, but everything works well, we have mostly new appliances, and the landlord is very attentive to any issue that pops up.
We came from the Midwest so I was expecting $1595 to get us a bit more than it did, but I think we're paying a fair price given the high demand in the market.

Brown St!
Good landlord. He is responsive to any needs that we have. The maintenance man can be a little clueless, and had some trouble fixing our dryer, but everything worked out.
The building, and most of Brown street, is occupied by grad students and is generally quiet, except on game days. The location is great, and easilly walkable to Ross or to downtown Ann Arbor. Very happy with our choice overall!
