A Recommendation for the Old West Side Neighborhood

I live in a 2bed, 1bath duplex in Ann Arbor's Old West Side, a 15min bike ride to the medical school and hospital. This is an unconventional neighborhood for medical students (although an M4 lives a block away from me) but I highly recommend the area for M1's!

Pros:
- A quintessential Ann Arbor neighborhood, overall very quiet and economically diverse. I know my neighbors and their children and have enjoyed feeling separate from undergrad-heavy areas especially as a U-M alum
- Ample parking for free (street and lots)
- Easy access to expressway, great for partners/roommates who commute
- Walkable to Eberwhite Nature Area and many other parks
- Affordable! I have lived in Ann Arbor for 7yrs and was so impressed by the value in the neighborhood. Units in the neighborhood tend to be well-kept, have decently high square footage, and have good amenities (I have in-unit laundry, a shed, a firepit, and parking lot)
- Can often rent small houses rather than an apartment in a large building, reducing noise
- Child-friendly, for those with families
- Separation from school but still quickly accessible

Cons:
- Commuting to medical school/hospital in winter or rain is less than ideal, need to drive and play the Kerrytown parking game (unless you have a permit)
- Not many other medical students in the area, overall creating less of a "community" and "college town" element
- Have to walk ~1mi to nearest coffee shops and restaurants
