Place on the Greene

The layout of the apartment is very nice. Comes with a nice washer and dryer, comes with dishwasher, and looks modern. However, when I got there, the place reeked of cigarette smoke, the carpets were filthy, and the cleaning crew who was supposed to do a deep clean never came so there was gunk in all of the cabinets, floors were gross, etc. The A/C is broken one month into my lease despite reporting it very soon after moving in. Shandon Group has been very receptive and responsive. They are incredibly nice but they just contract with the wrong people and seem to be a bit disorganized. Once these issues are resolved, it will be a very nice to place to live but definitely started the lease on a bad foot. If issues did not occur, this place would be rated very high.

Location is amazing. It's on the edge of five points with everything in walking distance, yet it is also very quiet. I have never had issues with noises, including at night on the weekends. It is also a very nice 20 min walk from the law school.

The building is in the middle of five points, within a mile of the school, and the rent is relatively cheap. The two-bedroom units have balconies and seem to be more affordable. The people that live in the building are mostly college students, but there are some families and regular working people. The elevator is very old and has no certificate of operation, constantly going to the wrong floor and sometimes getting stuck. Last year, someone slept in the parking structure under the building; this year, someone is sleeping in the first-floor mail room.
