Initially, when dealing with East Rock Realty, the real estate agent was attentive and very communicative. However, once we actually saw the apartment in person, it was dirty, not cleaned, and no blinds were present. At this time, the real estate agent was no longer responsive or would be sporadically responsive. We were unable to move into our apartment on move-in day due to the apartment being dirty, however, they still required that we pay our rent for that week. After finally moving into the apartment, the very well advertised air conditioning did not work at all. After stopping one of the men who were working on another apartment in the complex, and finding out he was the owner of east rock realty, I expressed my extreme concern about the heat and the lack of AC and responsiveness. He then went out and bought my roommate and me two window AC units, which was very much appreciated, but did not really leave the rest of the apartment cool. The vent in my own bedroom did not work, with heat included, until the beginning of December after countless maintenance requests to have it fixed. When the vent was not working, I was provided with a space heater, which would short circuit the electricity shutting off the power to half of the apartment. There is poor lighting when entering the walkway to the back of the house which has also been placed as a maintenance request multiple times. The apartment itself is a newly renovated apartment, however, it is a very old building and there are many things that are wrong, or broken, or do not work very well. Eric, the maintenance man, has been nothing but wonderful in responding to our texts and phone calls and doing his best to help us and accommodate us however the apartment itself and the move-in process and communicating with east rock reality were less than ideal.
