Mixed Feelings

I lived here for a few years and they began to upgrade the apartments around me which looked very nice. It was a decent sized apartment for just me and everyone was seemingly nice. A downside was the elevator was out of service in such a large building for a long while.

Great First Apartment

Located in the heart of Lakeview, ideal apartment for first time Chicago residents. Not very many amenities, but the building does feature bike room and on-stie engineers. Good size studios in a quiet building. Very close to many bars and restaurants. Pet fees are a bit expensive.

Boystown Studio

Close to everything. Elevators broke a lot. Lived there for 3 years and my rent was raised every year. Quiet building. Outdated appliances. Good size for a studio with ample storage and closet space. No real apartment amenities. On-site engineers always helpful.

Do not live here

This place was ultimately the worst place to ever live. It was difficult to stay here because of how run down the entire building was. They would raise the rent over $100 a year, but never made any upgrades to the building. At times, only the freight elevator was working and the people made it terrible to move out. When they were showing my place for move-out, they only told me at most, an hour before. WHICH IS ILLEGAL. I suggest if you move here, know the renter rules set by Chicago, so you don't get screwed.

Lakeview Reviews

I'm technically at the intersection of Lakeview, Buena Park, and Wrigleyville so I feel like I get a mix of all three neighborhoods in my day to day. Buena Park is much more family oriented and a bit more affordable, but it is small so finding an apartment there is tricky. Lakeview is very good for young professionals and pets but is definitely pricier. Wrigleyville is even more expensive, but has good nightlife and restaurants. All three are super easy to access transit from and get to the Chicago campus.
I love how convenient the location is. There's a ton of great restaurants really close by, so many bus lines right around the corner or within a 5 minute walk, and Lincoln Park right across the street. My commute downtown is only 15 minutes and there's also a bus available to get to the brown and purple L trains. There's a Mariano's, Trader Joe's, and Target all within 10 minute walking distance so shopping is very convenient. I generally feel really safe walking in this area as the streets are busy and well lit.
Similar crowd (young professionals), close to the lake, parks nearby, safe, accessible grocery stores and shops and restaurants.
Quiet, very residential, mostly families because of the great CPS schools nearby
Lakeview is a great spot for young professionals and those looking for an active social life. The area comes alive in the summer with baseball games and is not far from beaches and great shopping and eating areas.
Lakeview has plenty of beautiful, tree-lined neighborhoods and a robust bar and restaurant scene. It is a destination neighborhood with tons of boutiques, Wrigley Field, and a welcoming environment. I chose to live here because I am gay and wanted to have very easy, direct access to the lakefront path for running and biking.
The main reason we moved here was the neighborhood. Broadway, Clark, Diversey and Belmont are all within walking distance and offer all of the shops, restaurants, bars and grocery stores you could need. It really is in a prime, unbeatable location. Not to mention it's a block from Lake Michigan and walking distance to Lincoln Park and a short bike ride from Montrose Beach.
My street and neighborhood are usually fairly quiet. Sundays seem to be the going out day in the neighborhood but it isn't disruptive to my every day life. Overall it seems like a very safe area and being a young woman living alone, that is very important. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
