Isolated guest house
I live in the neighborhood west of campus in a converted standalone guest house. The house is very quiet, isolated, and I don't share any walls and have a lot of green space with windows on 3 sides. Its a beautiful and peaceful space set in a garden backyard, perfect for one person (less than 400 sqft). However, I don't have access to laundry facilities and don't have a dishwasher so completing basic housekeeping chores eats up a lot of time and resources. The guest house is owned and managed by the resident of the main house on the property, so I am not dealing with a management company. They are responsive about needed repairs but honestly clueless when it comes to technology, so rent is paid by check and if the wifi goes out its on me to deal with in the main house. The house itself is fairly old and could use updating (esp. appliances) but nothing abnormal for a student rental. It is limited to one resident, no pets, no parties, and I have one "housekeeping" chore for the owner of the property which only takes about 15 min a week. Neighborhood patrolled by private security so I can even leave my door open for air at night. About 4 min walk from rapid metro bus line. All utilities included. Since it's a guest house I don't have amenities like a gym/pool etc or any social atmosphere but this is preferred for me.
