Odeon New Orleans

Apartment is within walking distance to school, has wonderful amenities, and a very responsive management team. It is new and only opened in January of 2021. The downside is that the building rent and parking is very expensive.

School could’ve been more helpful

Good but expensive. It was hard to find a place as I had never been to the city. I reached out to my program director for help, she pretty much gave me nothing so I think I could’ve found somewhere cheaper with help. It’s a great place, lots of fellow students around so I don’t feel isolated, just not realistic to pay for on my own once I don’t have assistance from my parents.

The Odeon

The Odeon is great. It is definitely more expensive, but it is a very safe apartment and the security is really strict which is great. There is parking underneath the building, but it costs about 375$+ a month. There is a great gym and on the 5th floor there is a roof top deck with a pool, hammocks, sitting areas, etc. The Odeon is also walking distance from school.

Super Luxurious Living in Downtown

The Odeon is great! Building is new (early 2021 opening), and the units are clean, no pest issues, and appliances are new and modern. Walls are so soundproof I hardly remember that I have neighbors. In-unit washer/dryer and central A/C make living here super comfortable. The concierge staff is incredible and so helpful, especially during Hurricane Ida! Front desk is staffed 24/7 and the building is key fob entry, so very safe. Lots of amenities, including pool and gym, and community events as well.

Location is great - next to some restaurants, the grocery, and pharmacy. About a 12 min walk to Tulane's downtown campus, which isn't bad. Bus stops nearby, and the Amtrak is about a 5 min walk away.

Only downside is trying to afford this place on a student budget. A studio for 1 person or a 1 bedroom for 2 people may be doable if you save money elsewhere (eg. by not having a car or going out less). It is definitely a luxury apartment, so you are getting all of the perks that come with the big price tag at least. Recommended only if you are a stay-at-home person and like to live comfortably.

Wish I could actually afford it.

The only reason I'm able to stay here is because a Tulane building's construction got delayed so I'm paying my lease for that studio to this building's 1bd/1ba unit.

If I did not sign with that Tulane building, I would be paying $2550 a month for everything I'm getting now and that's about $550 more than what I earn monthly.

Even now, I don't mind being in a studio, but it's disheartening to see how out of reach living comfortably on your own is in the Downtown area and don't own a car.

A car just adds even more stress.

So it's a fantastic building and my quality of life is top tier, it just makes me sad that I can never actually afford that for myself.
