The Lyfe @ Missouri

Pros: Spacious apartment and plenty of parking. Location is great since you're right on Grindstone. Only 10 minutes from Mizzou's campus. Everything else is a con. This has been the absolute worse living experience I've had in Columbia. Amenities are an attraction, but the shuttle probably was down more than it ran. There were a lot of times the shuttle would not be running and management did not inform us we just noticed it hadn't moved from its parking spot. There were a lot of car break ins. We asked management if there was some kind of security measures that could be put in and they informed us they had a patrol officer which ended up just being someone that lived at the apartment. They did not patrol the area unless requested. Our a/c went out during one of the hottest weeks in spring and management was reluctant to help us and were very rude on the phone when we asked for accommodations. Upon move out they did not reference our move in forms and charged us an outrageous amount. We were charged for a kitchen chair that they did not provide us. We documented this in our move in form and they still charged us anyway. We were charged $400 for cleaning fees even though we left the place cleaner than when we moved in. We have tried to contact them about move in fees for over a month and they refuse to get back to us. Don't live here and if you do prepare to lose money.

The Lyfe is one of the cleanest and nicest places I have lived. I have my own room and bathroom with a large closet as well. The internet is decent. The only thing really holding this place back are the employees. There seems to be poor communication between management, the employees, and the tenants. Do not be surprised if you are told one thing just to be told something different later.

The Lyfe is conveniently located across from HyVee, down the street from Walmart, and only 15 minutes or less from any location in Como. The apartment staff is nice, but does experience a few problems. This residents are a mix of students and working adults. There are some small families that live there as well. Needless to say if you live on the 1st floor, it can be noisy from the people living above you. The complex is very old, so the floorplan is a little weird, but manageable. There is also a shuttle that will drop you off in front of the law school and pick you up at the tiger, which is a few feet from the law school. Overally, the complex is okay for the price you pay. If you want to live luxurious, this is not the complex, but its okay for the 3 years you will be in law school.
