Hidden Gem: Cheap and Spacious!

I'm very happy with my apartment. I was aiming to get a studio for less than $1000/month, and this more than fits the bill. Located 10-15 minutes from the law school on foot and 10-15 minutes away from the commercial part of 53rd St, 2 mins from Metra and bus stops for both buses downtown and the campus shuttles; right next to both the main University campus and a stretch of 57th St with food, a convenience store, and other shops. Huge studio for the price (probably around 500 sq ft, with a large walk-in closet), which even has an internal room separation despite being a studio.
The price comes with one main downside, that some of the appliances (in the bathroom) are quite old and sometimes don't work at optimal levels. But management is very responsive, including sometimes upgrading things if necessary, and I've never had a problem last more than a day. The heating is also central, so you don't have any control over it as a tenant, and can be a bit creaky. In my view, it's still well worth the price, especially given the comparative cost of other places in Hyde Park!
