The Waites
The location is convenient, about a 10 min walk to voulker. There are plenty of food places in walking distance and sometimes I'll walk to publix (about 16 min) for some exercise. The building is quiet and most of the tenants are dental or medical students, families, or older adults. The rooms also have new appliances and the living room comes with a 55in TV. I have a balcony where I grow plants or sit outside to study. The security is really good too. There is an app that allows you to buzz people in from your phone and video chat with them at the door. The building is also key fob access only. The student rec center is within walking distance and there is a small gym with a treadmill, elliptical , and weights if you just want to get some quick exercise in.

From a Med Student
Overall, it's a great place to live and is in walking distance to everything. The maintenance is super helpful and the management is very nice. The only downside is the walls are pretty thin and I can hear most things my roommate does as well as the people that we share walls with.

The Waites
Super convenient location right next to UAB. Clean, spacious, top of the line appliances. Comes with a built in TV. Management is good and very responsive to any problems/questions/concerns. Can be kinda noisy outside with traffic and a tire company across the street but it’s pretty standard noise level for being downtown. Walls are pretty thick so don’t hear my neighbors often. Parking honestly sucks. It’s $50 a month extra for your own spot but non tenants use the deck and take up spots a lot

Good Apartment Overall
The apartment is nice and spacious, but the floors are very thin. I can hear whenever my upstairs neighbor is walking & I’m sure my downstair neighbors can too. I remember having my friends over, and they were just putting their shoes on when my downstair neighbors banged on their ceiling/my floor.

A Good Choice for Healthcare Students and Workers
The Waites is within a 10 minutes walking distance to the hospitals and Volker Hall. It is nice to not have to worry about finding parking, especially on test days, and I do not have to buy a UAB parking pass. Also, the apartments are clean and new and come with a TV in the living room! I like that it is a smaller complex, so I can park close to the door of my apartment. The only downsides are the fitness room is very small with only a treadmill, elliptical, and cable machine. Also, my neighbors upstairs are very noisy. The road outside can also be loud sometimes, but that is to be expected with downtown living.
