Love living here, worry about earthquakes
I love this building. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. There is a tiny elevator and two stairways with narrow steps. I'm on the 4th floor facing another building and it's almost always pretty quiet; there are plenty of students but it is NOT a place for parties. The management company took over in 2019; they seem to be ok.
The units have a bed frame that slides out from the wall (you provide the mattress) and a relatively large elevated closet with steps to get into (not good if you are physically disabled). The floors are wood in the bedroom/living area, linoleum in the kitchen, tile in the bathroom. I have a claw foot tub. Because the building is old, there are few outlets. I spend extra for the 100% renewable energy from the power company and my electric bill for my studio averages about $25/month.
There is a park outside your front door and Safeway a short block away. PSU and everything else you need (including a year-round farmer's market) is within walking distance, as well as the streetcar and MAX lightrail. This is the best place I've ever lived!
