Spruce Knob Apartments
Spruce Knob is a decent place to live. It is a little ways out from campus (about a 15 min bus ride), but there is a bus stop right in front of the complex. My unit is about 150 ft. from I-94 which makes it very loud. That said, the rent is pretty cheap and the apartment is higher quality than some of the units you might find closer to campus. There is a free pool, a park with tennis courts, and a cheap 9-hole golf course all within walking distance.

Great value & location
Located in a safe, residential community perfect for walks and less than 1 mile to Mary Beth Doyle park. Maintenance is very responsive and completes work orders within a day. I also appreciate that the building is only two stories. We have a first floor apartment with a patio - ideal for letting a pet out. I ride the public transit bus to school (free for students) - the bus stop is a 1 minute walk from my apartment.

Spruce Knob Apartments Review
Great place!

Great for the Price
This apartment has been very good considering it was the cheapest option I could find. The management team has always been very helpful if I've had questions, and the units are clean and plenty big. The unit I live in is right next to the interstate, so it is often somewhat noisy (which isn't an issue for me but might be problematic for someone who is a lighter sleeper). Pets are allowed and there are several waste receptacles around the property, but these sometimes don't get emptied for days at a time and hence tend to fill up. There is a bus stop for the route 5 bus, which is nice for getting to campus or downtown (about 3 miles away). However, the buses are somewhat inconsistent, and have been anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes late, which is particularly frustrating in the winter. We've never had any issues with neighbors, and I think this is overall a great place to live considering the relatively low rent.

Good Value
Spruce Knob apartments are roughly 3 miles away from the University, so they are a little bit less expensive than most of the other places that I found. There is also a bus stop very near the complex that will take you about a block away from campus. The apartment I live in is perfectly suited to my needs, but it's definitely nothing special. There are multiple laundry rooms on site, the heat/AC works fine, and the management team is quick to respond to any concerns. It is near the interstate, so noise can sometimes be an issue. For the price, I think it is a good deal.
