Average unit, sub-par management

The unit itself is fine- some leaks and carpet stains when we moved in. The patio is accessible through a bedroom which is awkward. The island in the kitchen is nice, as are the closets.

Our building went over a month with a broken buzzer (often unlocked) on a busy street- unsafe. Packages were unable to be received by tenants and the management company did nothing about it, even after several calls.

Office hours are unreasonable, their mailbox is not checked regularly, and there's no online check payment system, so it seems like they've set themselves up to get late fees. For example, the office was closed June 30th-July 5th. I wish I had that much paid time off!

The parking lot, which opens itself up to the back of the building/decks, is often open. The gate is frequently broken. This is especially alarming due to the number of recent rapes of young women leaving/entering their cars within a couple blocks of the building.

They claim that the laundry is in unit, however you have to go to another building next door's basement and pay quite a bit.

They are about to undergo renovations so maintenance has been nill, even though they still raised rent.

I'm technically at the intersection of Lakeview, Buena Park, and Wrigleyville so I feel like I get a mix of all three neighborhoods in my day to day. Buena Park is much more family oriented and a bit more affordable, but it is small so finding an apartment there is tricky. Lakeview is very good for young professionals and pets but is definitely pricier. Wrigleyville is even more expensive, but has good nightlife and restaurants. All three are super easy to access transit from and get to the Chicago campus.
I love how convenient the location is. There's a ton of great restaurants really close by, so many bus lines right around the corner or within a 5 minute walk, and Lincoln Park right across the street. My commute downtown is only 15 minutes and there's also a bus available to get to the brown and purple L trains. There's a Mariano's, Trader Joe's, and Target all within 10 minute walking distance so shopping is very convenient. I generally feel really safe walking in this area as the streets are busy and well lit.
Similar crowd (young professionals), close to the lake, parks nearby, safe, accessible grocery stores and shops and restaurants.
Quiet, very residential, mostly families because of the great CPS schools nearby
Lakeview is a great spot for young professionals and those looking for an active social life. The area comes alive in the summer with baseball games and is not far from beaches and great shopping and eating areas.
Lakeview has plenty of beautiful, tree-lined neighborhoods and a robust bar and restaurant scene. It is a destination neighborhood with tons of boutiques, Wrigley Field, and a welcoming environment. I chose to live here because I am gay and wanted to have very easy, direct access to the lakefront path for running and biking.
The main reason we moved here was the neighborhood. Broadway, Clark, Diversey and Belmont are all within walking distance and offer all of the shops, restaurants, bars and grocery stores you could need. It really is in a prime, unbeatable location. Not to mention it's a block from Lake Michigan and walking distance to Lincoln Park and a short bike ride from Montrose Beach.
My street and neighborhood are usually fairly quiet. Sundays seem to be the going out day in the neighborhood but it isn't disruptive to my every day life. Overall it seems like a very safe area and being a young woman living alone, that is very important. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
