Great location with lots of light and friendly neighbors
This apartment is very close to the metro (10 minute commute to the Hospital and Med School), has a Target and Giant 5 minute walking distance, and great restaurants around the neighborhood to relax with your friends. This is a nice place if you want to live in a separate area from the med school but have a close commute.

Columbia Heights Reviews
Regarding neighborhood safety, there are occasionally shootings unfortunately. I have never personally felt unsafe even at night, but realize others might feel so.
If you value quiet, try to go a block or two away from 14th street (which is a popular artery for fire engines / ambulances / police cars - i.e. lot of sirens).
Con: Increasing amounts of gentrification in this neighborhood is increasing rent prices
