Tiny and needs maintenance but close to school

The studio is about 5 blocks from campus. Kitchen appliances are old but full-sized; the bathroom is spacious. The place is small, but I was able to fit some furniture.
The are no amenities other than the elevator (even the rooftop is off-limits to residents), and there are mice in the building.
Several bars and restaurants around, and always noise outside (which I enjoy)

I've been in the city for almost 3 years now, and the East Village has certainly been my favorite neighborhood to live and go out in. Excluding during the pandemic, there are great restaurants and bars on every block, grocery stores within a 15-minute walk (if not closer), and the general atmosphere of the neighborhood is lively and friendly. I generally feel quite safe walking around alone, unless it is very late at night/early in the morning. It is more expensive than the neighborhoods around campus, but I took advantage of the lowered rents due to the pandemic.
Love love love. Lived in Brooklyn before and was skeptical of moving to Manhattan, but the East Village is great. Tons of reasonably priced restaurants and bars, great public transit (if you're not too far east), and close enough to the law school to get there easily but without feeling like you're on campus all the time. Only complaints are 1) there's not a great place nearby to go for runs (East River path north of Houston is kind of gnarly), and 2) it does attract kind of a frat boy crowd so we have some noisy neighbors who like to play beer pong and play terrible music late into the night.
Fun, young neighborhood. Lots of bars and restaurants. Lot of access to public transit. Very noisy.
Very trendy neighborhood, a lot of restaurants and pubs. Close to grocery stores and to campus.
The apartment is located in the East Village that has so much life and activity. There are a ton of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and cool spots to meet up/hang out. You'll never run out of things to do. The neighborhood (at least until you go east of ave B) feels safe and secure, even with a lot of homeless people.
This is a great neighbourhood - lots of stuff to do, and for the quality of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, much much better value than almost anywhere else in Manhattan (except maybe LES). It's also well connected to transit, and I have a 10 minute walk to school which is a luxury that is hard to over-estimate. The only problem is that it is very noisy.
East village provides a great location to live. The location is only a ~15 minute walk to school and the neighborhood is great for restaurants, bars, shops and more. The one drawback is that the apartments are generally smaller and somehow seem more expensive.
It's loud and busy at night, especially on weekends, though this varies significantly block-by-block. Endless options for food, bars, music, and entertainment. Most importantly, there's a brand-new Target!
