Lots of loud kids!

I live a perfect 10 minute walk from campus, right by Central Park. I am directly next to the ACE line which is so convenient, and a short walk from the 123. I also live very near Trader Joes. The neighborhood feels very safe and quiet- mostly residential brownstones. The only downside is there are very loud children living above me (and in many units) and they scream all day. My building is majority homeowners (as opposed to renters) so there are a lot of families. If there were no kids above me I would consider my apartment to be perfect. I rented through a broker from Corcoran who I connected with on StreetEasy.

Fantastic location and well-kept building

Our location is perfect for a family with children: right next to Central Park, grocery stores, and a subway station with elevator. The management is responsive. We got a great deal on our apartment and even though it's a small two bedroom, we couldn't be happier.

Upper West Side Reviews

The neighborhood is in the middle of where the more expensive Upper West Side meets the Morningside Heights area. Depending on what street you're on, you might be closer to the lower-income part or high-income part. There's awesome restaurants with affordable food on Amsterdam Ave, but if you want a more secure area, you can live closer to Broadway or West End and feel more like you're in the "real" Upper West Side.
I love the Upper West Side, it's my favorite space in New York. It has the benefits of the City that Never Sleeps but can also be very quiet and residential. There are great restaurants, bars, shops, public services... There are two major parks on either end (Central and Riverside) and you can access the 1,2,3, B and C trains. The UWS and UES also happen to be where a good chunk of Manhattan's medical practice is, so there are tons of doctors and medical services within walking distance.
It is right on the line between the Upper West Side and Morningside Heights, so it has all the benefits of the UWS neighborhood with the prices of MoHi. Great bars and restaurants, very quiet, easily accessible by public transportation. The neighborhood has numerous parks-- Riverside Park, Morningside Park, Central Park-- and is great for pets, but the buildings are not necessarily as friendly for them.
The Upper West Side has plenty of bars/restaurants. Again, I'm close to Riverside and Central Park, so I get to exercise or walk in them whenever I please. West End Avenue is almost entirely residential, so it can be a bit quieter than living on Broadway/Amsterdam/Columbus; however, it's still quite close to all the restaurants and bars on those busier streets.
There are so many restaurants near by and the express subway so when you want to go downtown it’s a short trip. There are also lots of clothing stores and it’s just closest to school that you can walk and it’s easy, but just far enough away that you do not feel like you are always there.
This location is close enough to Hell's Kitchen but not necessarily in the mess that is Hell's Kitchen. I like being close to central park and the columbus circle subway. Warner Center, although dated, has a whole foods that opens until late.
Location is one block from Columbus Circle, across the street from Lincoln Center and nearby transportation makes it a breeze to get anywhere.
Love the neighborhood. Always new places opening. Convenient with high end shopping, great grocery stores, and parks on both sides.
