Northern Liberties Reviews

NoLibs is amazing. The restaurant scene is just enough (there are plenty of bars, breweries, and restaurants without being overbearing). There is also Liberty Lands nearby which has nice green space. The MFL is a short walk away, as is Fishtown to the north. Center city is only a few stops away, so it is still very accessible.
Full of YUPPIES. Some young families. Everyone has a dog. Cute park (liberty lands) that’s neighborhood owned and not city owned, so lax about rules and care (as opposed to Rittenhouse/Washington square). Significantly far from school, but 20 minutes door to door via subway (MFL). Food in the area is mostly mediocre and too expensive, though a very large and accessible acme and a few great restaurants helps. Also, proximity to fish town is nice - much better restaurant/food/bar scene. Northern Liberties was “cool” about 10 years ago, but all the cool people have left so now it is full of new construction developments that are devoid of any character or connection to the city/neighborhood. Nobody is friendly, neighborhoods feel odd and in flux - you can’t walk down any numbered street without having to cross multiple times due to construction. Though there is not the problem of displacement gentrification, the neighborhood was mostly industrial spaces that have been torn down and rebuilt or converted into loft apartments that are overpriced and tacky. Good restaurants: honeys, love and honey fried chicken, cafe la Maude, jaxon, cadence, Indian grill.
Plenty to do, everything I need within reach, close to public transportation.
Amenities galore - restaurants, bars, dry cleaning, pet boarding/daycare, grocery stores, shopping, etc.
Very family and pet friendly, safe, and walkable.
Close to yards brewery and northern liberties. Noise can sometimes be an issue with the clubs and festival pier
