Great SQ for the price and location

Condo complex is mainly owners but some owners rent out the units. Community is mature so if you tend to be a partier this place is not for you as the floors and walls are thinner than the high-rise apartment complexes. Beautiful enclosed court yard with water feature and picnic area. Includes a gym and business center along with a pub that you can reserve. Beautiful views of the capital building from the roof. Right above a Harris Teeter and across the street from a bike share and metro stop. 10 minute walk from Eastern Market and Barracks Row.

A building with all the amenities, but a few malfunctions

Living in Jenkin's Row as a renter has been a positive experience. I expect that owners have a different perspective as there has been some wear and tear on this building that was constructed only in 2007. It is expensive, though the fact that it has a gym, parking spot, and is above a Harris Teeter makes it worth it for a two-income household. Love the neighborhood (Hill East), as it has a community vibe and is close to Eastern Market/Barracks Row. The building is across the street from the Orange/Blue/Silver line, which makes it not too far from anything. The building is generally quiet, and our only major complaint is that the fire alarm system has been malfunctioning for about a year. It goes off often, without warrant, and it is so loud that it is painful. They've been working on fixing this, but the people who are paying condo fees aren't too happy. One thing to note is that almost every unit has a different layout in this 200-unit building. We're happy with ours, which gets a ton of light. I think every unit does have a walk-in closet and an open kitchen/living room plan. Tons of animals in this building!

Quiet, clean, close to everything

Jenkins Row is a lovely condo-building. It has an on-site gym, business center, multiple roof decks, a party room with free pool, and a Harris Teeter right in the first floor. It is also across the street from the Potomac Ave metro - so convenient for getting in to the city. I love the quiet neighborhood, and proximity to the beautiful Eastern Market area, as well as numerous neighborhood parks for hanging out on weekends. Our condo also includes a parking spot, which is very helpful in the DC area. The only issue is occasionally the building has had problems with the fire alarms going off at random hours of the day or night, but the building management has worked diligently to address the problem. The 24/7 front desk concierge staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful as well. It is an excellent building to live in.

Getting around Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill Reviews

15 reviews
Love the neighborhood. Very safe and residential. Easy access to campus (~30 commute). Not as close to restaurants, other attractions.
Quiet but very nice. Lots of young families. Decent restaurant selection. Not a lot of nightlife (besides 8th St SE which is a slightly older crowd). Generally go to U St / Dupont Circle / Adams Morgan area to go to bars, 20 to 30 minute uber (3-4 slow city miles). Decent metro access (silver, orange, blue, and red) and access to Union Station (Amtrak and buses). Close to National Mall and somewhat close to Nationals Park for baseball games. Commute to McLean HQ building is a 45 minute metro ride from Capitol South on the Silver Line. Driving w/ minimal traffic is 25 mins to office. Driving w/ bad traffic (usually in afternoons) is 1 hour.
It's an excellent, safe neighborhood with plenty of families. While it's not the most exciting neighborhood in the city, it's within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants.
A great neighborhood right in the heart of Capitol Hill. Not much night life or young crowds but incredibly charming and great for dining out or brunch.
This a wonderful neighborhood... close to downtown, great restaurants and bars, and also quiet and residential.
Far from school and people who live NW, but gorgeous area, lots of restaurants and bars and young people, right by the Capitol, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court.
Nice calm neighborhood with great restaurants. Break from foggy bottom/student life
The neighborhood is adorable and the neighbors were all very kind.
