Cheap housing close to campus

The building is on the older side and there’s no gym/it’s not the closest to grocery stores (~12 minute walk to Whole Foods). There is not so much diversity in the building, and a lot of older people live here, who can be really finicky about noise. However, the rent is cheap, it’s close to campus, and heating is included, so it works for me.

Wonderful, residential

Quite, beautiful views, responsive staff. Not many amenities but also a price that is much more reasonable/affordable. Still 5 minute walk from campus

900 N Lake Shore

No complaints about the apartment. It's an older place but it has large windows overlooking the lake from the 27th floor and lots of space in the apartment itself.

Great building! Bad management

The building is great. I love the location and the lobby is very pretty with pleasant door man and other staff. The management staff is absolutely horrible to deal with and completely unprofessional. Several of us in the building have been disrespected by her and have seen her disrespect other people in the building. You shouldn't have to worry about what mood you're catching a management member on every time you see or call them.

Great view, bad management

The view of this apartment cannot be beat! It is amazing. The management however is very disrespectful. Not understanding at all. They have unreasonable delivery dates and rules. If the view from our apartment wasn't so great I would leave in a heartbeat.

Great Location

Love the location! So close to school as well as all the shops and dining you could ever want! The building has a lot of tenants and some are students others are families but everyone is super nice! I have only lived here for a little over a month but it is a great place to be in the heart of the north side.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
