Lovely little apartment

The Indigo Apartments are in a nice, but not too busy location, in Eckington. As a woman living in a city, my safety is of the utmost importance to me and I feel completely safe here. The landlord and maintenance people are very prompt and provide good service. The lighting is also fantastic. I do wish that we had a gym and that it was easier for us to receive mail/packages (packages are often diverted to a questionable UPS drop off point where they are sometimes never found again). My other biggest problem is how far away it is from the metro.

NOMA / Eckington

The apartment is really fantastic and very reasonably priced for DC - has in unit washer dryer and dishwasher, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors and even a bathtub with jet bubbles. The management is also really nice and responsive. Pet fee was $300 refundable. There is a public swimming pool one block away. Only downfall is that the walk to and from the metro, about 10-15 mins to NOMA/New York Ave, is not very safe, especially at night. Was robbed at gunpoint on my way home after dark. There are a select few nice coffee shops and bars nearby, but always crowded because they're the only ones around.

Eckington Reviews

I really enjoy living in this neighborhood. It's not too far away from the center of town, so most attractions are 20-30 minutes by metro at the most. There's always new shops and developments popping up, which keeps it interesting. And although it sometimes gets a bad reputation for safety, I've never had any problems.
Pros: Red line access, Capital Bikeshare stations, Zip car locations, fast foods nearby, one metro stop from Union Station, free neighborhood Wi-Fi
Cons: Not a lot of restaurant options or shopping within walking distance
there are several restaurants and grocery store right near the metro, and some new places have recently opened, but it still has a ways to go to be great.
Nice neighbors, pretty quiet, but there have been two shootings and a robbery at knife point.
Love living in NoMa, and more restaurants/bars are being added all the time, but it sometimes feels a bit out of the way. Great to have the metro and bike lanes so close!
Eckington is a cozy little neighborhood. I've always felt safe there (or at least as safe as a woman living in a city can feel). It is close to the bars and restaurants of Bloomingdale. I do wish it was closer to the metro.
Neighborhood is okay. Everything is walkable. Bars/restaurants/grocery stores are super close by. Parking is usually available. Super safe (just don't go near the NY Ave Wendys after dark)
