Chapel towers has been having more students from Duke every year. The connectivity is good with 4 different buses to campus. It has been. Safe as well.

Chapel Towers and general tips
Chapel Tower is a good deal - it's affordable, spacious and very close to campus with access to these different bus stops that should take you anywhere around Durham. It's also DukeVan accessible. The rent is inclusive of maintenance charges. When it comes to finding places to stay in Durham, disregard rumors/stories about places being unsafe and use your instincts to find a place to stay.

Worked well for us!
One of the cheaper options close to campus (be sure to ask for the student discount and furniture package, don't get tricked into the utilities package -- ends up costing you a lot more than setting up the utilities on your own). First off-campus stop on the Lasalle Loop with option to take the H-5 for a quick trip to campus. 15-20 minute walk to the Engineering Quad, West Union, and Wilson Rec Center. Management is a little unorganized but very polite and maintenance is extremely responsive. Compared to other complexes with similar rent prices and commute times, this is one of the safer options. Security and safety precautions could you a lot of work but as a young female I felt safer at Chapel Tower than most of the other complexes in the area. A good mix of students and families in the community. No fitness center on site, but you get access to the pools, fitness centers, tennis courts, etc. for the other complexes GSP owns (most within a 5 minute drive).

Pretty good place overall
Best in terms of proximity to Campus. Decent sized apartments. Barely any cockroaches seen till now. Suggest others to live on floors other than the ground floor.

Chapel Tower Apt Review
I really enjoy how much natural light the apartment gets! It's very close to campus and sits right on quite a few bus lines, so you can easily walk or ride a bike on nice days or catch the bus when it's raining or super cold. The apartment is also clean on the inside and was recently updated. I don't like that it is not very secure as you don't need a key or a code to drive into the complex, but nothing has happened yet! I also like that my neighbors are very friendly and very diverse. There are a lot of families with small children who live here and it's nice to hear them playing outside. The second room and the bathroom are a little small, but the living room is spacious! Whenever we've had a problem with the apartment, management has always been quick to respond and deal with our issues.

Great apartment for price you pay.
Not as luxurious as other apartments but you get a lot for what you pay for. It's clean and nice during the winter but in the summer you'll probably encounter some bugs.
Besides that, its very close to Fuqua and a pretty nice community.

Decent Apt Close to Campus
Decent apartment, with washer and dryer and dishwasher in the unit within walking distance to campus and the Sanford School. A fairly basic apartment but suitable for the needs of a grad student! Can't beat the location and price.

Chapel Tower Apartments
My experience has been overall positive in Chapel Tower. Management is overall great, but there is one unpleasant person who I avoid trying to deal with who makes everything overly complicated. Otherwise, they are pretty agreeable, but it takes a few weeks to get simple problems solved. In addition to the rent, there's a mandatory $25 valet trash collection fee.
Pros: 1. A close walk to campus, between 12-20 minutes depending on which building you live in. Building 18, 19, and 20 are closest, so try to live there. 2. Pretty decent place to live for the price. Duke students get a 10% discount on rent, and the apartments have been renovated so it's nice. 3. Parking is free.
Cons: 1. There's virtually no soundproofing, so try to live on the top floor so you don't hear every movement upstairs. 2. Your neighbors aren't all just students, there are families and young people, but sometimes that means people throwing parties at all hours of the night, or just playing music every night at 2am, or having loud music coming out of their cars in the wee hours of the morning. 3. No huge bug problem, but you do see more bugs around the house in the spring.
