Nice Building, Meh Management
This building is very nice with great amenities, about a 10 minute drive to Gould. It is easy to have pets here. The maintenance team is very helpful. There is a nice gym, two pools, lots of BBQs and outdoor cooking space. Management is not helpful and does not care about tenants, though. I wouldn't live here forever, but it has been extremely convenient for a few years in law school.

Great amenities, bad location
Amenities are great, location is not. Downtown LA has its perks, but my neighborhood has become overrun with homeless people who scream at random passersby and walk through traffic aimlessly.

Excellent
Super close to campus and great amenities. Close to everything I need. Pretty cheap considering the amount of space I have too.

Apartment Review
Been really good! Location is great, as is the apartment itself, but the process of actually filling out the lease was really rough and hard to communicate with leasing agents-- I think they recently switched management. Been smooth sailing after we moved in, though.

The Truth
Apologies, I'm going to be petty. This building's ability to maintain a clean and peaceful environment has been greatly unsuccessful for the past 7 years.
It's frustrating that Yelp has removed my previous review, which detailed a year-long fire alarm issue. The review included specific dates and times when the alarm sounded, which was a testament to the disturbance it caused. It also featured photos (also removed) of the poor sidewalk conditions. Fortunately, I can easily take more photos to illustrate the current state of the sidewalks, which I've attached to this review.
So now, onto the present. For the past three days, the Eighth and Grand Apartments have emanated a steady beep sound that resonates through their parking garage walls and into my apartment next door to their building. As you can imagine, this constant steady beep has affected my mental health. It's like a ringing in my ears, day and night. Trying to live, work, and sleep in this environment is disturbing. Even having music, TV, etc, on to drown out the beep is impossible. If you know how sound works, then you understand.
Attaching the video showing their maintenance person turning off the beep sound. Notice how easy it was for him to turn off the sound, yet it took three days. And surprise, the beep sound is back on as I'm writing this review.
Update: Found the original yelp review. The business page changed because the building is under new ownership. Sneaky...
5/26/2019 is the original date of this review. I've been updating it since.
This apartment building's aura of annoyance affects everyone and everything inside and nearby. I live next door and you know I'm trippin' if I'm writing a review about a building I don't live in.
The sidewalks are riddled with piss and shit mostly from pets. The smell is worse than skid row. The fire alarms go off at least once a month and last night, the alarms went off twice, 2am and 5am. The 2am alarm was sounding for over an hour. You'd think the building was on fire or crumbling to the ground, but when I walked over I saw one fire truck parked outside, some residents in the lobby just waiting it out, and a desk clerk who seemed to be hanging up on incoming calls.
I spoke to a security guard who said there was a water leak in the building. Does a water leak deserve this much attention and need to cause so much annoyance?
Lastly, the management never answers or returns calls. Do everyone a favor, move out, don't move in, don't participate in this building's existence.

Great apartment reasonable prices
The apartment building is really nice and the prices are reasonable for so many amenities and to live alone without roommates. There are multiple large open spaces to bring friends and a rooftop pool, gym, and movie screening room. The difference in price over on campus housing is more than worth it.

Good spot
Plenty of staff, good location. It's huge, so there are package mixups and slow elevators

Nice Amenities, Annoying Rules
I do really like living here, but the management isn't the best. The pools, gym, and study room are so nice. My apartment itself is really nice. Maintenance fixes issues within a few hours.
Management does not communicate with us about anything. They also have stupid rules that you just have to follow like no guest parking and only one key fob per person, etc.
Overall, it is really nice, but it could work better.

Absolutely love it, but it’s pricy
The best apartment in DTLA in my opinion. Two pools, communal areas, coffee machine, constantly being cleaned, gym that feels like Equinox, etc. If you’re willing to pay the premium to live here and pay for all your utilities and parking, it’s 100% worth it. I’d suggest maybe getting a 2 bedroom with a friend.

Great apartment for a single law student
Terrific apartment with a killer location in DTLA. Being right above a Whole Foods makes a big difference in saving money on eating out because it's so easy to buy groceries. Neighborhood is safe and convenient for commuting. Only downside is that the fire alarms in the building can be a little *too* responsive, so might not be best if you're sensitive to loud noises.
