Modern apartment with nice amenities
The open-concept apartment is modern with a large kitchen and island, great for entertaining. There are carpeted bedrooms and wood floor laminate throughout the common areas. Covered parking is included and there is a small gym in the leasing building. The hallways can get a little messy on the weekends (e.g. stray beer can); I think there’s a good number of undergrads in our building. There is also covered bike racks. It’s about a 1.5 mile walk to Ross and I usually walk or bike. Maintenance responses and addresses quickly and the buildings are cleaned monthly. Overall I really like living here.

Spacious, newer apartment
The apartment complex is perfect if you are looking for a lot of space and a newer complex that has options for a larger apartment that also allows pets. The main downsides include that the complex is a little farther from the medical school (but public transport is nearby), that you have to cross through a high traffic area to get to the medical school, and that parking can at times be spotty but is always available (though you might have to walk a short distance between your apartment and car).

Clean, new apartment complex w/ small gym
We love our newly renovated 2BR 2BA at State Street Village. The floors are dark hardwood laminate, and the kitchen is huge. We have a washer and dryer in unit, free parking, and a small gym with 2 treadmills, a bike, crosstrainer, and free weights. We are a married couple, no kids, and my partner works remotely out of the 2nd bedroom. We have had a few maintenance issues but the property management has responded and resolved the issue quickly. There are a lot of undergrads in the building but we don't have any issues with noise. We are 1.5 miles from Ross and I bike. There is also a bus stop right near the apartment entrance. Aside from the unit being a little expensive, it is a nice place to live.

Trade off between quality and distance
SSV is a great place for people willing to give up proximity to campus/downtown for apartment quality, especially folks who have pets/car. The apartments themselves are modern and good-sized, and the management staff are very responsive. Over the past year, college students have moved in, so it can be noisy on weekday nights. Otherwise, the community is quiet and friendly.

Nice new apartment but subpar management
The apartment complex is very new. Appliances and apartment quality are very nice. Residents get a free parking spot on the property, and the complex is very pet-friendly. There is a small gym attached to the leasing office. Sometimes the neighbors can get a bit rowdy, and management is very slow to address concerns when informed about them. The management is typical for college-town America: subpar. My apartment is a five-minute walk from the bus stop, so I can easily catch the bus every day to take me to campus.

Great mixed resident property, newly designed with some limitations
Constructed in the summer of 2016, the property still boasts relatively new features and has great management oversight. It's a decent distance from campus if you don't want to be in the midst of everything but like the ability to walk/job to campus when warmer and access it via a 5-7 bus ride when colder. Limitations include poor disability access, no elevator and limited parking (one spot per household) and less than 20 open spots for all others shared by all units.

Great Value
The amenities (renovated apt.//washer/dryer/gym/parking) outweigh the distance from Ross, especially since the city's 62 bus cuts your commute to about 10-15 minutes. It's also a quiet community which is great for decompressing and escaping from campus since there are few undergrads here. Dog friendly is great too.

State Street Village Apartments Review
State Street Village is a nice new apartment where you can get a really nice, pet-friendly apartment at good value for Ann Arbor. The apartment was completed in 2016.
It is right on the route of the 62 bus line, so with your UMID you can get from the apartment complex to 2 blocks away from Ross for free on the bus in just 10 minutes.
The management of the apartment is typical of a college town: they take a while to respond to issues, but that is the case just about anywhere in Ann Arbor.
