Joule is geeat, but your finances pay the price

Let's be honest - we all know that $1928 for 760 square feet is...egregious. I'm having a hard time saving money. That being said, Joule is a great environment and it really feels like home. The improvement in my quality of life due to atmosphere and location is worth the extra money, I guess.

Joule is a jewel

Joule is a relatively new apartment complex in Seattle, built in 2012 and boasting a nice, two-tower layout with a lovely roof deck providing excellent views of Puget Sound, the Olympics, and Mount Rainier. The in-building gym is the best I've ever seen for an apartment complex, with multiple treadmills, ellipticals, stationary cycles (recumbent and traditional), weight machines, free weights, and - the highlight, for my girlfriend - a climate-controlled yoga/dance studio. Management has been friendly and quick to respond to any issues, the premises are kept clean and attractive, and multiple levels of controlled access assure security is solid.

My only complaint would be the price (of course). At this level of rent, I would have expected a parking space to be included. It's not, and that's an additional $170/month. Ouch.

Quiet, great location with amazing rooftop and amenities

Joule apartments have wonderful amenities, including a rooftop with a fantastic view of downtown Seattle and on clear days both the Olympic and Cascade mountains. The fairly new building is well-maintained including great workout facilities. In my apartment, the appliances are all fairly new but the dishwasher and fridge can be fairly loud for a studio. My windows face a courtyard, which is wonderfully quiet. Add in the location near so many good places in Capitol Hill (soon to include the light rail) and this apartment is hard to beat.

Overall great experience!

I love living here. This apartment is in a great location and my particular unit is laid out very well with an open kitchen. I'm not a fan of the juliet balcony but it does let in a good amount of sunlight. The walls seem thin because I can hear the street noise and neighbors quite clearly. Also not a huge fan of the carpet in the living room and bedroom. The gym is great, as is the lounge and rooftop.

New, clean, safe

Joule is a great place to live, especially if you're new to the city. It's in a great location (conveniently on the north end of Broadway) and the amenities are great. The only downside is it can be a bit pricey for what you're getting in terms of space.

Joule - good deal in a great location

Joule apartments are great. My unit is modern, stylish and in very good repair. The office staff is super friendly, very responsive and maintenance has always been done swiftly and with high quality work. The location here is fantastic - close to everything. Prices are competitive, but on the high end as everything here IS so modern and new. It's a great building for owning pets, my dogs are wholly accepted here. I haven't yet renewed my lease and am not sure how much rent will increase year over year, but so far I'm sold on keeping this as my home.

Great but expensive building

Great location, amazing place to live, really nice front desk people. Expensive, but on par with other big buildings in the neighborhood. My unit is great, it's nice to have a quiet place to work and study while also being so close to all that Cap Hill has to offer.

Urban living

This is apartment is great for young professionals who want to live in a great location. Walking distance to QFC, bars, and great food. Along many bus lines. Who can beat having a gym in your apartment complex. Large windows allow lots of natural light in.

Capitol Hill Reviews

30 reviews
Capitol Hill is definitely not what is used to be - which could be good or bad depending on the person. There are so many great restaurants and bars in such a small area, plenty of grocery stores, and amazing nature through out. It seems like a real neigborhood versus some other larger city neighborhoods, which you can't beat! There can be some sketchy people that frequent, but nothing you can't ignore or won't see anywhere else.
The neighborhood I was attracted to and moved to was gritty, artistic, and full of expression, with lots of local businesses and a vibrant, supportive community. Now, if I were to describe Capitol Hill, I would call it white, sterile and devoid of character. Inauthentic might be the word. I would characterize Capitol Hill by it's designer running shoes, fancy baby strollers, drunk girls passed out on the sidewalk in their high heels, and bros getting into fights on the street. I would characterize my neighborhood by the increased amount of panhandling, and by people who don't give a care for the baristas behind the counter, the servers who keep them fed, or the artists who make this community come alive.
Love Cap Hill. Easy access to bars, clubs, and shopping.

the area is clearly in flux and growing as employers in downtown Seattle continue to grow, ie Amazon, Expedia, etc.
If you're in CapHill you know you're near it all; food, drinks, theatre, clubs, sports. I guess you could take the short walk to downtown but you don't need to.
Really dig the neighborhood vibe here. Good amenities (coffee shops, ramen houses, library) and green spaces. It's a lively place, with plenty of character.
North cap hill is quieter than Pike/Pine area. Walking distance to parks and great restaurants. Good coffee shops and close to transit.
Capital hill is by far the best neighborhood in Seattle. Has all of the bars and restaurants anyone could want.
The gentrification is REAL, it's lost some of its soul and prices are skyrocketing (along with the rest of the city) but if a true "city living" experience (living in a highly walkable urban core, diversity, arts/nightlife/entertainment) is important to you, it's still arguably the best neighborhood in Seattle... for now.
