580 Commonwealth Avenue reviews and highlights
- building and apartments are really clean and modern
- bus and T stops right across the street
- all utilities included in the rent
On Campus Essentials
The graduate student on campus apartments aren’t anything fancy aesthetically, but they do have everything I need. Housing services generally fix issues quickly, and the keycard requirement and on campus location helps me feel safe. Utilities are included in rent, and I can use BU’s free WiFi. The BU shuttle and green line are also close by, which is great for transport but bad for noise pollution. It’s overall a great value for the price in Boston.

Not Bad
The apartment building is pretty maintained. There is sometimes some nuisance by the workers who would start upkeeping the premises during late hours. The fire alarm often goes off when you least expect it. The management and GHAs are not very responsive though.

It’s overall great
It’s good. Great location with very close shuttle, nicely renovated inside, good price. If I die and reincarnate tomorrow, I still wanna live here. EXCEPT 1. Lots of fruitflies in the summer which are lowkey manageable. 2. Firealarm goes off so so so often! They don’t care if it’s morning or night. Be ready for that.

The living environment is very comfortable
The living environment is very comfortable, but some of the equipment can be a little problematic at times. For example, the air conditioning and the sink.

Great apartment
Big enough for a studio, well equipped, small issues with some furnitures but great location.

Life at 580 Commonwealth Ave
The studio apartment is too tiny to be even called a studio. Some people have kept pet animals (dogs) on some floor(s) even when the property is a non-pet zone (except for service animals). There is often water clogging in the kitchen and bathroom areas. The fire alarm is overly sensitive and buzzes off at midnight for no obvious reason, forcing everyone to evacuate the building.
