Life at 580 Commonwealth Ave

The studio apartment is too tiny to be even called a studio. Some people have kept pet animals (dogs) on some floor(s) even when the property is a non-pet zone (except for service animals). There is often water clogging in the kitchen and bathroom areas. The fire alarm is overly sensitive and buzzes off at midnight for no obvious reason, forcing everyone to evacuate the building.

Review

The overall experience is good, except that some students do not comply with the housing rules and caused a few fire alarms, sometimes during the daytime and one time in late night! It also happened in the coldest day of Boston this year and twice in a day! And some students often spilled coffee or drinks in the elevators and it took a while for the cleaning staff to clean it. I hope that every student living in the on-campus housing would abide by the rules. There shall be rules to take care of situations like this (maybe in the lease agreement in bold and underlined): if you violate the rules for more than twice, you shall not live there; it is so rude to other people. Sometimes some students came back in late nights and talked / laughed very loudly in the hallway. Overall, the property is fine enough for a student.

580 commonwealth ave

My neighbors are quiet and everyone is required to keep quiet after about 10 pm. Greenline and BU bus stops are in front of the building. There are some restaurants such as McDonald, Sushi, and Dunkin within 5 min walk. Students are required to use BU ID to enter the building which makes me feel safe. Packages and mail will be put in the lobby. There is enough space in the room for one person living. The managers of the building are very kind.

Good apartment to live in as a student

Since it's part of BU Housing, it's more budget-friendly and slightly less stressful as it is already furnished for the most part. Location is also great. Only con is that there are other unoccupied buildings behind the apartment complex, so they block any natural light from coming into the rooms in the lower floors.

Good option

This complex for the location and price compared to non BU real estate is a good deal. Other tenants are inconsiderate, there are constant instances of packages and food being opened and stolen.

Great neighborhood! There are plenty of shops and bars and restuarants nearby to explore. It is also very close to transit areas. It's generally quiet, except on game days at Fenway. On game days, the streets and roads become very crowded and can get loud. It's not very loud from my apartment, I don't notice it, but it can change depending on where you live. There are stores and markets for shopping and groceries within close walking distance. The location downtown is great for me.
Fenway is a fun place to live as a young adult. There is a lot of great options for food, entertainment and shopping nearby. It is not necessarily a quiet place, but that aslo comes with the fun of always having something to do nearby. For the most part it is a safe place to live and convenient location.
The neighborhood has a target at 10 mins walk, dominos, USPS, and 2 other restaurants at 3 mins walk, questrom college at 7 mins walk, and two t-line stations at 6 mins walk. It safe around to go for jogging.
It has a residential feel even though it's right downtown. Everything you need is right in the neighborhood, including a grocery store, CVS, hardware store, liquor store, etc.
It is a good place. Easy to access also it has tons of cafes, groceries, and restaurant
Amazing food, close to target, museums (MFA and ISG), and the fens
West Fens is, in my opinion, the best place to live in Boston. Pros: short commute downtown, plenty of transit options, lots to do (bars, restaurants, etc)., near plenty of stores (grocery store, TARGET!, Marshall's, etc.), quiet streets, and right next to the Fens for when you want your nature fix. I don't have any cons, personally. It's my ideal location.
The Fenway area is a great place to live. You've got the green line (I know) right there that will take you pretty much anywhere. Lots of bars and restaurants and a grocery store as well. It's a good place for undergrads and I found it very enjoyable living there.
