Thomas Lofts

I am very happy with my living situation. I am located right on Market street, with all Center City stores accessible to me. I am right across the street from the grocery store, and a 2 minute walk from the 8th and Market Patco station. My roommate and I both have our own bathrooms. There is ample space, and updated kitchen amenities.

Great space, terrible property management

This space is great because it is close to Jefferson station and I can commute to campus in about 35 minutes. The neighborhood is busy and commercial which is a downside, but we're super close to very nice restaurants, bars, and activities and our proximity to the bus, train, and subway gives us access to the entire city.

The management team could not be worse. We constantly have trouble getting in touch with them. They could not care less about us. The only upside is our onsite maintenance person (Victor) is awesome and fixes everything he can.

Great Views

We have an awesome view and perfect access to the 8th street SETPA station. Our landlord is not very responsive when it comes to repairs, but it eventually gets done.

Great Apartment, Not so great management

My roommate and I love our apartment, but the management of the building is horrible. We moved in with two LARGE active leaks in the ceilings, the AC not working (in August with temps over 98!), and it was filthy. It took them over a month to repair the leaks and the AC and we had to continuously check in with them every day to get any sort of information about when or if the maintenance people were coming. Once that was all fixed we’ve enjoyed living here- the doorman Victor is awesome and having a small gym in the basement is very convenient. The acoustics in the building are a little weird.

Nice apartment; decent location

The pros of the apartment: (1) great design (modern post-industrial, like a former warehouse that is filled with wood floors and stainless steel appliances); (2) included washer and dryer; (3) lots of space; (4) convenient location (only 5-10 minutes walk to Old Town, Reading Terminal Market, Chinatown, Target, Whole Foods, AND the subway is literally underneath); (5) good value for the location and quality of the apartment; (6) air conditioning included

The cons of the apartment: (1) the walls in the bedrooms do not go up to the ceiling, so noise carries very easily from one room to the other (the walls only go 3/4 of the way to the ceiling because the ceilings are really high and the lofts are converted from a former factory or something; (2) the immediate block (Market St between 7th and 8th) usually has a lot of homeless people and feels a little sketchy at night; (3) management is occasionally unresponsive; (4) doorman is only there part-time (mornings, usually); (5) security feels a little lax (everyone uses the same four digit code to enter); (6) billboard across the street shines into your living room 24/7

I love this neighborhood! It's great for walking around, exploring the brick, tree-lined streets, and picking up a coffee or snack nearby. You are walking distance to dozens of bars and restaurants, including 13th St as well as South St. Within 20 minutes, you can walk to the quiet charming Queen Village neighborhood or the bustling Rittenhouse area and the shopping district. Even though it's close to Center City, you still get a calm, neighborhood feel.
Love South Street! Center City is accessible if you want it, but you're also pretty close to South Philly and the Italian Market.
Amazing neighborhood! Close to Center City and tons of bars and restaurants. A little far from campus - around 40 minute walk.
This is the ideal area to live if you're going to Jefferson. Anywhere in Washington Square West will put you around a 5 minute walk to campus. It's incredibly safe and I love that everyone around you is a Jefferson employee. There's tons of bars and restaurants in the area, all within walking distance.
The building is situated between Pennsylvania Hospital and Jefferson so it is a relatively safe and clean neighborhood. This does mean there are occasional ambulances or helicopters going by, but generally it isn’t too noisy. The subway and grocery stores (Acme or Whole Foods) are about half a mile away, but the walk is pleasant.
Midtown village is a wonderful neighborhood. There are many restaurants, shops, bars, lounges all within walking distance. Public transportation is abundant and always on time, too. People here are generally friendly and the streets don't get too crowded as it does closer to Center City West. Everything you need is in this neighborhood!
I really enjoy this area. It's very close to lots of bars and restaurants, but not noisy at all. I used to live in Rittenhouse which is extremely nice but very loud and I often was kept up at night by cars honking and construction. The area now is extremely quiet at night. It's very safe and I feel fine walking by myself at night. It is close to reading terminal plus the grocery stores on south street. I like the proximity to the park as well!
We love living in this neighborhood! It feels safe to walk in at night alone and we live two blocks from Independence Hall! With the new Fashion District under construction, it can get a little noisy at night with the construction.
