VALUE TRUMPS GLITZ
It's just what we need. My partner and I both work in Silver Spring, MD. There are metro stations and supermarket food shopping within half a mile north and south of us. It's so convenient. Our commutes to the office are 30 minutes door-to-door. We visit the farmers market and galleries every Saturday on the Brookland Arts Walk, and frequent the cute little places to eating place on 12th Street NE. The building is within a quiet tree-lined-street neighborhood.
The layout is VERY spacious. They just don't plan apartment layouts like these anymore. Most rentals on the market are so small and cramped. Not the University Hall Condominium! We each have our own spacious closet.
There is an understated strong community of people in the building. You will be left alone with your quiet privacy unless you venture out and attend some of the condo association monthly Board of Directors meetings. All are open meetings with all residents invited. Join a University Hall working group, or chat with your neighbors.
The laundry rooms, one on each floor, are newly remodeled. There is a new state-of-the-art roof replacement underway and plans being made for remodeling all of the common areas in the building, hallways, stairwells, lobby - to start. Phase 2 will be tp address the lighting, buldingwide.
These dwellings are not going to stay relatively low priced for very long.

Good Value for DC
There is nothing fancy about this apartment building, no gym, pool, or roof-deck, but it is a good place to live. Hardwood floors in kitchen and living room, new carpet in the bedroom. Overall the best part of the apartment is its size for DC. The living room is very large for the price, and the bedroom fits a queen size bed very comfortably (could probably fit a king if you have only one end table). There are two closets which are nice, and there is bike storage in each stairwell.

Edgewood Reviews
It's obviously a great place to live if you are a Catholic University student, although there isn't much of a college atmosphere here, so you barely notice it if you are just a resident. The Brookland Arts Walk is nice, and there is a farmers market there during the warmer months on Saturday mornings.... Again, it can't compare to DuPont's farmers market, but it's still nice.
Overall, the best part of living in Brookland is what you get for your money. You could live in a very small studio in DuPont or Georgetown for more than the cost of a large one bedroom in Brookland.
