Perfect residence for students

Bader Condominiums is 7 minutes walking from GW and the Metro. It’s also right outside the Georgetown neighborhood if you want to take a run through the water front, go see a movie, shop, or take a relaxing walk. The building is well kept with a mix of renters and owners. The supervisor is very responsive to resident concerns via phone and email. Washing & drying is available in the basement of the building. There is also a rooftop and courtyard in the back that can be rented out for private gatherings. If you have a car, you have to become a DC resident pay and for a street parking permit (Zone 2) through the DMV. There are 1-year and 2-year permit renewal options.

Second Year Here

The Bader is a great building: it is well run by the super and staff, clean, relatively quiet, safe, and has a great garden and rooftop (with an awesome view of Georgetown and VA). It's close to a bus stop, metro stop, Trader Joe's, and the University. However, there is nothing immediately around it: you have to walk about 15 min to Georgetown, AdMo, Du Pont, etc.. Overall, and awesome place for a grad student, not someone looking to party.

Convenient location

The Bader Condominium is in walking distance from Georgetown, GW, the metro, food/groceries, and even dry cleaning. The building is well kept. Routine maintenance is done regularly with timely communication sent via email beforehand by the building supervisor. My neighbors are quiet and friendly. It can get noisy on occasion during weekends, especially when the undergraduate students come back for school, but it’s not intolerable. I live on the first floor near the elevators and building entrance, so I expect more noise than the average tenant. It is a pet-friendly residence but you wouldn’t know with how clean the building is kept. There’s a mix of condo renters (like myself) and condo owners here making for a wide age range; however, it’s mostly working professionals. You have to pay for street parking if you have a vehicle and parking availability is generally good except during big holidays and events in DC.

Clean. Excellent management.

The Bader Condominiums is kept extremely clean which is great since it is pet friendly. One thing to note is that pets are allowed for condo owners and not renters. You also must get a residential parking permit if you have a vehicle. Reciprocity permits (for temporary out-of-state/student residents) are not allowed. These are the only drawbacks I have with the residence.

The building supervisor is very responsive and keeps excellent communication with residents on any building maintenance work or issues. There are a mix of renters and condo owners here from different age groups and backgrounds. Everyone I’ve met so far is very friendly as well. There is also a cute patio with grills and tables and a rooftop that you can reserve for private events when you want. Most importantly, I am a seven-minute walk from Ross Hall on the GW SMHS campus.

Quiet Place

The building is maintained very well and the on-site super is very helpful, both before and during the move-in process as well as on a day to day basis. Building has a quiet garden and a roof deck with a great view of the river and Georgetown. The building is, from what I can gather, mostly working adults and graduate students, which makes it very quiet (even on the weekends). Easy access to Trader Joe's, Georgetown waterfront, the FB Metro, and GW Campus, but very far from more social neighborhoods.

Good sized studio, close to Washington Circle!

I really like the apartment I'm living in, albeit it is a bit pricey for the space size. The landlord is very attentive and accommodating, as is the super in the building. I would be sold on staying in the apartment if dogs were allowed (landlord, not building issue).

West End Reviews

West End is fine. It's safe, there's easy access to transportation and plenty of supermarkets. But it's boring as anything - a neighborhood of hotels and office buildings. It's also overly pricey without really giving you much in return. As someone who had to move to DC on short notice - I picked West End based on location and little else - and I mostly came out of my time living here wishing I had done more research before signing my lease.
Safe neighborhood, great transportation hub with multiple bus stops less than a minute's walk from the apartment and a 5 minute walk to the metro. Some restaurants and bars nearby as well. Ten minute (at most!) walk to GW campus! My only gripe is that it's an expensive neighborhood but the apartment is competitively priced for the area.
The neighborhood is perfect. Ten minute walk to school, five minute walk to the metro. CVS and Walgreens just ten minutes away, trader joes just 3 minutes away, Whole Foods ten minutes away. There is a bus stop with a bunch of bus routes directly in front of the building. This neighborhood is also close to a bunch of other great neighborhoods, just a 20 minute walk to DuPont Circle and Georgetown where there are restaurants, bars, and stores. The monuments (the Lincoln) are only a 25 minute walk down 23rd street. There are numerous gyms nearby and the school gym is only a ten minute walk from the apartment. The area is probably the safest in the city and there is not a lot of noise over the normal city noise. It is next to the GW Hospital so ambulances going by can be annoying but not overly so. This neighborhood is great and close to every amenity.
I like the west end library and the l Trader Joe’s but other than that it is a little quiet and mostly filled with hotels. There aren’t very many food options either. It’s a close walk to Georgetown which is nice.
This neighborhood has everything a millennial needs - a CVS, Soulcycle, Sweetgreen, and great bars/restaurants. Highly recommend because it's quiet and really close to DuPont Circle and the GW Metro.
ONE BLOCK FROM TRADER JOES!! 5 min to Georgetown, 10 min to Dupont, 8 minute bike ride to campus. Bars & restaurants. Across the street from the dog park.
Hard to beat the Foggy Bottom area. Safe and close to everything you would need to be productive and have a great med school experience.
Some of the neighbors are great. It gets pretty dead very early here. There have been a few instances of intruders in the building.
