Loved it!

We can't say enough about living at 2933 Sheridan! It is so close to the parks and walking trails/lake, it's a nice little escape from being 'downtown'. We would walk to the zoo all the time! There's a great restaurant scene a few blocks away and an amazing new Mariano's grocery - seriously we go there for fun. Our apartment was more than we needed, tons of storage and more living space than needed! Never had any issues!

Love living at The Van der Rohe!

I've lived in The Van der Rohe for 5 years and am re-upping this year. I love living there! The building staff are super friendly and helpful, and I feel like if I ever need anything it's very easy to reach out and get a prompt response. This specific building is a great location for me to get to work downtown. My 1-bed is a great size with the bedroom separated from the living room by a small hallway, so it is very much 2 separate spaces. SO much closet space, great kitchen storage, and lots of light with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Great

I've just re-signed for my second year here. The building is great. After living in a poorly-heated apartment for a year, radiant heat in the floors here is a luxury NOT taken for granted. The amenities are useful: in bad weather I use the gym, in good weather I like to grill on the sun deck. Have not had a chance to use the Party Room, yet.
The building manager is in her office almost every day and "The Super" lives in the building. They're both great to deal with. The building is clean and well-maintained, the exterior windows get washed every spring, the parking garage floor gets pressure-washed. I had issues with a leaking shower faucet and a toilet, both of which were fixed within a day.
When I move, I hope my next building is managed as well as this one! :)

A great place to live and a reliable maintenance team!!

We like this place a lot! It’s super clean, the company is so informative and communicative! They always try to setup fun events. The rooftop is beautiful! More importantly, we love our maintenance guy, he is the best! He’s able to fix almost anything and the service is so fast. I think that’s important asset to a rental company.

Sunny apartment in the perfect location

My finace and I are starting our third year living at The Van der Rohe. We really couldn't ask for anything more location wise - we're walking distance to the lake, Lincoln Park, and the zoo. Public transit is right outside our door and we're close to Lakeview East's best bars, restaurants, shops and grocery stores. Go Grocer and Hero Coffee are also right across the street. However, the best things about living here are our building and the staff. Every apartment has floor to ceiling windows which lets in beautiful natural light, we hardly need to turn on our lights in the summer. There's plenty of storage and cabinet space, and the mirrored sliding closet doors create even more light. The layout is perfect, very open and the bedroom is big enough to fit a king size bed. Plus, we have heated floors! Jimmy, who is on-site, has always completed our few maintenance requests promptly. Lisa, the property manager, is always helpful, very responsive and puts on the best resident events! Some of my favorite things about Van der Rohe are the amenities. The sun deck is a great place to hang out and grill in the summer and the gym is great for a quick workout, especially in the winter months. We found it hard to find an apartment in Lakeview East that ticked all of our boxes, but The Van der Rohe is perfect!

Loved Living Here!

I lived at the Van Der Rohe for several years and loved my experience living there. The location is close to grocery/restaurants but also right at the bike/lakefront trails. I also loved my apartment, I had more storage space than I knew what to do with!

Van der Rohe

I have lived here for a couple months now. First winter living here and I've been having trouble getting hot water in the morning. My roommate is gone during the week so it's not her using it. It does feel safe and I don't have many other complaints.

Nice place to live

The apartment has wonderful huge windows and is filled with plenty of closet/cabinet space (and lots of mirrors!). The unit has hard wood floors and new-seeming appliances. Kitchen and living room are one big open space; the bedroom and [small but workable] bathroom are separate. Biggest downside is how hot the unit gets in the winter. Maintenance is great, though, and handles any issues immediately.

Living in Lakeview

The Van der Rohe has been an okay living experience. The rent is a bit high for what you get, but the location is awesome.

Lakeview Reviews

I'm technically at the intersection of Lakeview, Buena Park, and Wrigleyville so I feel like I get a mix of all three neighborhoods in my day to day. Buena Park is much more family oriented and a bit more affordable, but it is small so finding an apartment there is tricky. Lakeview is very good for young professionals and pets but is definitely pricier. Wrigleyville is even more expensive, but has good nightlife and restaurants. All three are super easy to access transit from and get to the Chicago campus.
I love how convenient the location is. There's a ton of great restaurants really close by, so many bus lines right around the corner or within a 5 minute walk, and Lincoln Park right across the street. My commute downtown is only 15 minutes and there's also a bus available to get to the brown and purple L trains. There's a Mariano's, Trader Joe's, and Target all within 10 minute walking distance so shopping is very convenient. I generally feel really safe walking in this area as the streets are busy and well lit.
Similar crowd (young professionals), close to the lake, parks nearby, safe, accessible grocery stores and shops and restaurants.
Quiet, very residential, mostly families because of the great CPS schools nearby
Lakeview is a great spot for young professionals and those looking for an active social life. The area comes alive in the summer with baseball games and is not far from beaches and great shopping and eating areas.
Lakeview has plenty of beautiful, tree-lined neighborhoods and a robust bar and restaurant scene. It is a destination neighborhood with tons of boutiques, Wrigley Field, and a welcoming environment. I chose to live here because I am gay and wanted to have very easy, direct access to the lakefront path for running and biking.
The main reason we moved here was the neighborhood. Broadway, Clark, Diversey and Belmont are all within walking distance and offer all of the shops, restaurants, bars and grocery stores you could need. It really is in a prime, unbeatable location. Not to mention it's a block from Lake Michigan and walking distance to Lincoln Park and a short bike ride from Montrose Beach.
My street and neighborhood are usually fairly quiet. Sundays seem to be the going out day in the neighborhood but it isn't disruptive to my every day life. Overall it seems like a very safe area and being a young woman living alone, that is very important. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
