Really far away from campus, but probably one of the cheapest apartments
Good price
Fair pricing and close to a bus stop. Lot of smokers and dog owners who do not pick up after their pets. Pool and gym are not in the best shape. Plenty of parking.
close to campus but cruddy area
You can walk to campus from here, but not anywhere else. I have seen one person carrying a gun in his waistband at night, and a guy got shot in my first month here. Some apartments have been renovated, but mine hasn't, except superficially, and it shows. Stinky garbage bins in the parking lot.
There are some pros. It's less than a 5 minute drive to campus. Repairs are free, the staff is responsive, and the internet is fast. There are several supermarkets not that far away. And they allow pets, though they charge a lot.
Westdale
Cannot beat the price. Friendly staff that is super responsive for any issues. Plenty of parking and a great view. My unit does not have washing machine, so I have a short walk to a laundry machine area onsite that is very cheap and rarely used. They do have units with hookups for laundry machines. Traffic on mopac can make commutes closer to 30 minutes to campus/downtown. Very close to bus routes.
It’s alright, you get what you pay for
Management can be slow to make repairs or fix things, or occasionally just refuse to fix things at all. Sometimes they do alright though.
Not too bad
Apartment is a bit older, but it’s affordable. The Far West bus stops in front of the apartments.
It’s pretty cheap at least
The apartment is cheap but also very small. Service requests sometimes get answered promptly and other times get ignored entirely. It doesn’t look all that great.
These apartments are in prime location within North Dallas. It's about 25 minutes from SMU, and there is no fee for covered or uncovered parking. They also offer 15 month leasing, there's a pool and gym on site and you're in the middle of both major airports.
The only issue I have with the apartments the entrance/exit gate. Current residents are given a gate care for entry and any guests of yours will need to call your phone so you can grant access for them. Unfortunately, you must have a local area phone number for this to work. Other than that, it's been just fine.
Nice place to live
There are two bedrooms and one bathroom and it's a really nice home. There are plenty of things to do inside my apartment because I provided them for myself. I am so grateful i have an apartment to put all my things in. Did i mention it has walls and doors and windows?
Super close to the city and freeway!
It's great to live in an old warehouse type building turned into apartments. It has high ceilings, exposed brick, & somewhat of an industrial feel. Management has been awesome. The walls are super thin (hopefully you have thoughtful neighbors), if the people above you spill something -- it can leak through the floor, & many residents don't clean up after their dogs mess (leaving it in the hall). Living in an apartment is never perfect, but it is a community and not everyone thinks of it like that. Overall, its a good place for a short while, but I don't plan on extending my lease.
Great apartment (with a few downsides)
I love the apartment itself and the view is amazing. I do wish we had windows we could open. Also, they allow a lot of dogs and the dogs pee all over the hallway and the sidewalk right outside. It smells! Also they have an old elevator on our side of the building which is very slow and breaks down often. Horrible office hours (10-5:30, which is when most people work).
Aged apartments in a quiet, safe area.
The apartments are cozy and in a safe area. The maintenance crew are quick to respond to requests. They have re-purposed a tennis court to serve as a dog park. The laundry facilities are well lit. There is an HEB within walking distance and several bus stops around the corner.
Great starter/temp apartment with a few major setbacks
I was lucky for an outside perimeter unit with windows - I would HATE living on the inside. The walls are very thin, you can hear EVERYTHING. Windows do not open - gets a little smelly/stuffy. Hallways smell like dog piss. Other than that I love it.
Awesome industrial feel, great neighborhood
I've lived in two of the Deep Ellum Lofts buildings, and they really are great spaces and in a sweet location.
The only problem is management - once you've moved in they do not care about you. At all. Misty was borderline hostile in the background of a phone call I had with their office.
Luckily I am handy so I fix my own maintenance issues, because Westdale seems dedicated to maintaining their properties in the cheapest way possible.
Nice place to live
The Players Club is a centrally located complex that feels very safe. It could use some updating though as the apartments are older. The laundry room is not the greatest so I would suggest washing your clothes elsewhere. Sometimes it is hard to get use of the machines at the gym as it is not very large.
