Review

The apartment itself is nice, albeit clearly cheaply made. When you are on top of maintenance they're very helpful. Biggest complaint is that a lot of the communal amenities are not up to standard. Washers and dryers don't work well, and are often broken :(. Fitness center is not great, but the dance studio space is a fave of mine. (tiny though!). Hot tub is sadly off maybe 10-20% of the time. Recently we've had hot water issues.

Good neighborhood, but a little expensive

Our apartment is ok, everything works well and the property manager has a very good service. The neighborhood is safe, calm and with good places to eat and shop. The only downside is the rent price, higher than L.A. average.

The apartment is really nice. Unfortunately, it is super pricy.

Close to campus and has a rooftop pool

There is a UCLA bus that takes you to campus for free right across the street. It is also great to live walking distance from the graduate student gym. The rooms are pretty spacious and each room has a bathroom connected inside so you have privacy.

The rent, however, is expensive. You’re going to find it that way in all of Westwood.

Overall Great Building

The building is close to campus (30 minutes to Anderson), has a nice roof with a pool, hot tub, and grill, gym in the basement, sauna, and a helpful maintenance staff.

Good Location

6 management rating Reviewed by on

The location of the building is great. It is located within walking distance to several amenities such as a nearby Bristol Farms, CVS, Kinross, and a UCLA bus stop as well as several other stores/restaurants in the area. If you have a car it is very easy to get to campus. There is a small pool on the roof as well as a sauna. There is also a small room with some gym equipment. The layout of the apartments is pretty standard across other apartments in the area. The floors are uneven. Water pressure is very poor. Management is generally responsive and keep common areas clean. Make sure you have checked the condition of everything in the apartment as well as the parking spot location before signing the lease contract.

Good location for school, but meh for socializing

Midvale Towers, managed by Silton Group, is continuing to update its facilities, and at first glance is a pretty building. I have had no complaints about the management or the other tenants; however, the sound-proofing is not wonderful and you can often hear the people above you walking around or the people in the hallway talking. Conveniently located a mile from UCLA's campus (just under 2 miles door-to-door from Anderson), it is an easy commute and definitely walkable. That said, there is very little social scene in Westwood so you will have to drive when you want to go out. You pay your own water, gas, and electric bill monthly, and water, sewage, and trash are split amongst the building, as is the electricity for the hallways/common areas/etc. This shared utility bill is a bit higher than I anticipated, but not prohibitive. Management is very responsive to all requests and the building manager lives in the building itself.
