Beautiful area, close to Clark Park and L transit line. Easy walk or bike ride to UPenn campus.
Management and maintenance staff communication response time is excellent. Attending to actionable items in a timely manner is lacking.
Beautiful hardwood floors and tile bathroom walls. Ample storage and compartamentilization of space gives added value compared to joint-single open-space studio layouts.
Appliances and cabinetry outdated, noticeable issues due to wear and tear impacting functionality. The overall noise insulation in the unit is poor, outdoor/intra-unit sounds.
Decent and Affordable
The apartment building is ok for the price. The property managers are excellent, very responsive and friendly, and helpful with any issues that come up. The apartment itself is a decent size, though the fixtures are a little dated. The location is a bit away from the law school, but the fact that the trolley stops right at the front door means that is no issue at all. At short notice and for the price, it was a good choice.
Good location, fairly cheap, could use more space
Good location (about a 15 minute walk from the law school), all utilities (including high speed internet) besides electricity included. The building is old, but many of the rooms were recently renovated and look very nice inside.
During the summer there was one cockroach in my apartment, but maintenance came in the next day to apply pest control in my apartment. Both maintenance and management are prompt in responding.
The package system is not always ideal. Anything shipped through USPS arrives without an issue, but other packages (ex. through Amazon) are sometimes left in the courtyard, leaving them vulnerable. Also, there was one incident when someone hopped over the gate and took an unlocked bike that was in the courtyard, so just make sure to always lock your items and bring them inside when you can.
The space you get is definitely enough, though it is a studio and the bathroom is small.
It seems like mostly young people live in the buildings, but it is surprisingly quiet most of the time. There are even some older tenants living here as well.
Good place to live for Drexel University students
The apartment and facilities are very nice. Office and maintenance support are excellent. Rent is not low, but probably is competitive. Utilities are quite reasonable. Neighbors are generally quite friendly.
Great for students
Great value for the price. Management is responsive and even recently upgraded the internet for accommodate remote work in response to COVID. Overall, no major complaints.
Good, Not Great
My apartment is relatively old and out of the way, but management is fairly responsive and the neighborhood is relatively safe. Overall, it's one of the cheaper options for living alone.
Needs work
Expensive for the old building, needs extensive work, many cracks in the ceiling. Paint needs to be scraped as owners have contiuiuously painted over and over. But a reliable space that allows cats.
good but high price
The apartment is pretty cool with a living room along with a bathroom and a kicthen. But the price is higer than average considering its location (house nearby is $600-700 per month, comparing to 895 here). Additionaly, Drexel shuttle bus ends at 8:00 pm, which leaves me pretty worried when walking back alone. I have suffeedr several times on Lancaster ave when some guys have stopped me and asked me for money. So for that, I would not recommond you guys to live here.
Drexel court
The maintenance and custom support here are helpful and patient.
Franklin Court
Apartment is located in a great location, about a 15-20 minute walk away from Penn's campus and right along the 34 trolley route which goes right into Center City. Cats are allowed, but no dogs. Building itself is a little shambly put together, but everything works. Haven't had any major problems that has required the landlord's attention, so can't really attest to how helpful they may or may not be.
The internet is included in the lease, but it can be a bit spotty, so if that's a major concern for you then maybe you should find someplace where it's not included.
good first apartment
I was barely home so it was a nice place to store things. No central air, which sucked and for the beginning of the winter the heat didn't work. It was good location for my school. I would recommend it to any other students. It was affordable and the location did just fine.
Beautiful neighborhood
Overall, it is a great and economic place to live. West Phily is a wonderful, eclectic, residential neighborhood and gives you a welcome distance from campus and frats. Multiple forms of transit and walking makes campus easily accessible and for those with cars there is affordable permitted parking. My studio is quite large with a newly renovated kitchen and so is very economic. Having gone to undergrad at Penn and knowing the area well, i felt comfortable giving myself a safe distance from school.
