My top priorities for an apartment were responsive management, a quiet building, no pest issues, and being close to the UChicago bus stop. Astoria Tower has been the perfect place.

I am very particular about having a quiet space when I study. I have never had issues related to noise when studying in my apartment. This is a VERY quiet building. You can occasionally hear a bit of street noise, but it's usually on weekend nights or during rush hour.

The management is very responsive. The one time I had a billing issue, they fixed it right away. Clean building, no pests, and decent amenities. They offer a study/work lounge, rooftop decks, and an indoor gym. Some of the gym machines have been broken since I've been here. The indoor pool has also been under maintenance for quite some time.

I haven't met any other UChicago folks in the building, but there are a handful of 1Ls who live around me in the South Loop area. Those of us in South Loop have become friends through riding the UChicago bus together. The UChicago bus is less than a five minute walk from my apartment. The time it takes me to get from my apartment to the law school using the UChicago bus is just over 30 minutes. I rarely use my car; I really don't think you need it if you live close to the bus stop. The only time I use it is to drive to campus on the weekends, since the UChicago bus route that goes downtown doesn't run on Saturday and Sunday.

Great location to get to UChicago while also being connected to public transportation. I'll never live in an apartment with amenities as amazing as Nema.

I have had a few apartments, but this one is best I have had. I have not had any problems that couldn't be fixed or rectified quickly, in the almost 2 years I have been there. I have a corner apartment that has a $10,000 view. The balcony is almost the entire length of the apartment.
Management is kind, patient and believes in insuring any issues are resolved. Francy S. is great, and one of the hardest working property managers I have ever seen, and yet she still will manage to smile at you.
I love this place and I'm looking forward to being here as long as I can.

conveniently located near grant park. if you have a dog, the south loop area is way more dog friendly than the loop near millenium park. this location means you'll use the museum campus metra stop, one stop before the millenium metra stop. if you take the campus shuttle there are two convenient stops nearby. one downside here is having to pay for laundry on site, no in-unit laundry option is available but internet IS included with your rent.

As title suggests, NEMA has impeccable amenities, convenient location, and HIGH price. I would recommend north and east facing units than others as they have better view and less heat from unfiltered sunlight.

Elevators are very slow and sometimes don't work but the amenities are amazing. I would highly recommend.

Love the view!

The view is amazing, as we have a view of the downtown skyline and lake. The location for class is also great as it’s a 12 minute drive to campus. The only negative is it’s next to the train but you get used to it/can get a unit that doesnt border the EL

Expensive, but great experience

NEMA is a great building with amazing amenities and nicely designed apartments. The neighborhood is quieter than the Loop and closer to campus (Metra stop is a 5 min walk). Great lake and park access. Management and staff are always extremely responsive (work orders are answered within an hour) and very kind. There are not a lot of Booth students in NEMA, but there are a lot of UChicago grad students.

Coming from New York this is great bang for your buck

The leasing agents were terrible, all 3 of them. The property manager is much more responsive.
