Walking Distance & Great Amenities

6 management rating Reviewed by on

I really enjoy living at Aertson Midtown! It is only a 10 minute walk from class, I’m right next to a bunch of restaurants and bars, there are great amenities at the apartment building (study lounge, pool, rooftop, and gym), and it’s fairly quiet! Only downside is you have to pay for parking and there isn’t any guest parking.

My experience at the Aertson has been great. The floors are quiet, the apartments are modern, and I believe most (if not all) units have floor-to-ceiling windows which provide great natural light. I have had no issues with the actual apartment itself. There are two main challenges that standout (1) the elevators and (2) management. The elevators are extremely slow and generally (on the north side in particular) one elevator is almost always out of service or down. This isn't a huge issue but can be quite inconvenient. It happens more often than not. I would also say the management has been challenging to deal with. They are kind people but very slow to respond via email or even phone. I often have to send 3-4 emails and cc the manager in order to get a response. There have been multiple times I've called and left a message with no return call and I had to go down to the office. High turnover in the leasing office which leads to knowledge gaps, poor communication, and often mistakes or incorrect information when asking questions or when you need assistance with an issue.

Definitely a bit pricey, but you can't beat the location if you can swing it! Be ready to host some law school parties/

You can't beat the location. I can make it from my apartment to a seat in a classroom in less than five minutes.

Expensive, but is worth it

Even tho some of my classmates my be paying less. I like the fact that I am 10 minutes away from my classes by walking. Also parking lot under the building is nice to have, especially for winter. Gym and other amenities are also satisfactory

Cityway

Cityway is a very safe place to live with wonderful amenities but it is on the more expensive side and sometimes maintenance seems to completely ignore requests and things never get fixed or take an incredibly long time.

Foundry South

4 management rating Reviewed by on

The Foundry South is a great location with a 10 minute walk to campus. It has Trader Joes right down the street and several restaurants/bars right on Eddy Street. The buildings are very new and well taken care of.

The management is not the greatest and the lease process was very unclear and confusing. You typically have to reach out to management several times before your concerns are addressed. The mail/package room situation is an absolute nightmare that could easily be fixed.

Great — staff can be slow

5 management rating Reviewed by on

It is definitely the nice apartment building at Notre Dame of campus. However, sometimes maintenance can be slow to fix things and if you live in the amenities building and face the back part with the fire pits and pool, sometime people stay out there until 2 am blasting music on school nights and property management does nothing to regulate it, even through there are noise ordinances and “closing times.”

Great location, brutal price and useless staff aside from the maintenance guy

1 management rating Reviewed by on

It is easily the best location, and all my closest friends live here which has made it worth it. However, the price is absurd. After fees I pay probably 2100/month to live in South Bend Indiana....come on. Also, the front desk staff is awful, and packages constantly go missing. The maintenance guy is great though and responds right away.

Location Great - Management kinda sucky - expensive for no reason

4 management rating Reviewed by on

The management is not great (they never answer the phone or email). You must go in person if you want to speak to them and get a response. It is really expensive for no reason. It is better than Overlook but Management is chaotic, the parking situation is tricky and too expensive for parking down the street in a parking garage, and a lot of things are broken in the apartment. Management messed up on removing the furniture from my apartment and are now charging me additional charges each month for their disorganization and mistake. Worth it for the amount of ND students that live there and how close it is to campus.
