West End — 7.4/10 Rating (based on 7 neighborhood reviews)
I’ve never had problems but am wary coming from a suburban area and not being familiar with cities or the area in general. The new buildings just up the street seem to indicate the area is turning over positively. Just a short walk/bike/carride to Forest Park, my favorite part of living here.

The nearby area is connected to public transit and there are numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance. Grocery shopping is not the most convenient without driving unless you enjoy only United Provisions and CVS.

it's not the safest place. I hear gun shots sometimes, although it has been quiet lately. I recommend you don't walk outside after dark. The building is safe though. The neighbours are nice and I don't know of any incidents happening during my 1-year stay here.

Everly on the Loop
The Delmar Loop neighborhood isn't the safest, at least on the end by the Everly, but it has a lot of restaurants and bars and is reasonably close to campus. I do walk alone at night on Delmar, but I probably wouldn't do so if I were a woman or if I were carrying something highly valuable. I heard one person was mugged outside my building last month, but there is some (low) risk of this basically anywhere in the city. Delmar is a common site for law school social events, but the Central West End seems to be more common.
