Mount Pleasant

"DC's Next Big Thing"
Mount Pleasant celebrates diversity through its international cuisine restaurants or cultural events. Live Music at Haydee's Restaurant displaying the Mexican culture, the Purple Patch with their taste of Philippines or Don Juan with dishes from EL Salvador are just a few ways residents enjoy their after work hours or weekends.

You can't beat the public transportation and there's a ton of nightlife options in the area. Reviewers claim it's going to be DC's next big thing, so why not get in before everyone else does?

Best Places In DC
Mount Pleasant — 8.1/10 Rating (based on 11 neighborhood reviews)
The neighborhood is a great example of DC's diversity. Mt. Pleasant is a predominantly Latino community (primarily from El Salvador); however, as with most of DC, gentrification has started to take root. The neighborhood is generally safe for the city; however, it is always important to be cautious. Crime is primarily theft (breaking into car windows) and there has only ever been one serious incident that I've known about in my 3 years here. On the positive side, there are so many great restaurants for various types and it is easy to access the rest of the DMV area thanks to the bus and metro. If you enjoy walking, this neighborhood is great as well.

Mt. Pleasant is one of the best neighborhoods in DC. It is diverse, with a mix of old Hispanic families and newer, educated young professionals. Mt. P street itself has some nice independent bars and restaurants. The area is also adjacent to Columbia Heights, which has Target, Best Buy, etc. as well as Adams Morgan, which is very lively on weekends.

No complaints. I feel very safe and have had no issues. Can't beat the public transportation nearby or all the night life areas. If you are the type of person to feel "unsafe" simply because the area has higher rates of blacks and hispanics then don't move to Mt Pleasant.
