Elizabeth
Inviting and Exciting
Elizabeth is a small lovely residential area near to the city-life of Charlotte.
After Dilworth, Elizabeth was the city’s second “streetcar suburb”. In the early 1890s, to keep up with the development of Uptown, farmland in this area was developed into residential areas and suburbs. Today, the modern-day CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar still maneuvers along its roads, and young professionals stroll the streets to enjoy Elizabeth’s restaurants, funky retailers, saloons, and vibrant music halls. For leisure time, the area is home to two parks with beautiful scenery, willow trees, and walking trails - Marshall Park and Independence Park. Residents can also choose to spend the day biking at nearby Little Sugar Creek Greenway. The Visulite Theatre is a great place to enjoy live music in an intimate setting.
The restaurant and bar scene in Elizabeth holds much appeal. Restaurants include The Stanley, Cajun Queen, Bang Bang Burgers, Midwood Smokehouse, Viva Chicken Elizabeth Avenue, and Mama Ricotta’s. For a bit of nightlife, bars in the area include Smokey Joe's Cafe, Thirsty Beaver Saloon, and Foxcroft Wine Co. Dilworth. Elizabeth is a great place to live for people looking for a small area that is not too busy while also being close to the city for its own perks.
