A Proud Neighborhood
The County of Henrico, named after Henry Frederick the Prince of Wales. Throughout history, Richmond tried to annex the entirety of Henrico. Richmond successfully annexed portions of Henrico five times, but the people of Henrico refused to give up its entirety. In 1961, 61% of the votes in Henrico were against the merge with Richmond, making Henrico its city and identity to this day. Even today, Henrico is rich in culture and history. A popular spot for many of the residents of Henrico is Deep Run Park & Recreation Center. Here, many of the residents enjoy the recreation center, soccer fields, trails, and ponds.

The locals of Henrico have high recommendations for people looking to get some dinner and a beer with friends. Big spots include Roberto Italian Restaurant, Sandston Smokehouse, Mexico Restaurant, and Ma & Pa's Diner. Bars to visit include Metzger Bar and Butchery, Poe's Pub, Penny Lane Pub, and The Local Eatery and Pub. The County of Henrico is a great place to live when looking for an area with plenty of places of interest scattered throughout the town.

It's a quiet neighborhood and very family oriented. You definitely need a car and need to drive to do anything, like go to shops or restaurants. It's less than 10 minutes to campus which is convenient. My only complaint is there are no sidewalks around the property so it's annoying to go for walks or runs nearby if you're into that.

It's quiet, cute, and generally safe. Commute is easy. A little far away from everything, but as long as the pandemic is going on I'm not sure exactly how much we're missing.

Drawback: you MUST drive anywhere you want to go. Nothing is walking distance, unless you want to walk along a major road (you don't).

I grew up underneath the flight plan, hearing the occasional sirens/etc. from the nearby fire hall is nothing new/out of the ordinary for me. The complex is set back very far from road, so no real noise heard from that other than the sirens.

Kroger, Starbucks, Gold's Gym, some take out food all within 3 minutes drive from the complex, and within 8 minutes is Regency Square mall (with JC Penny's, Forever 21, etc.), WalMart, and the same distance the other direction is Short Pump with every store imaginable.

Google Maps says that it is an 11 minute commute to school, and if you don't have to be at school before 9:30 AM, then the commute takes less than that. If you have early class or are a morning person, then it takes about `15-19 minutes, depending on 2 lights.

It's definitely more of a residential area. So if you're looking for quiet and access to shopping and grocery stores, it's great. Not so wonderful if you want to get to know your neighbors or be able to walk anywhere.

I live in Henrico, on the edge of the West End. There are lots of grocery stores available. The Law School is about 10 minutes away. There are tons of food and shopping options. Nothing is more than a 10-15 minute drive. Would 100% recommend owning a car in this neighborhood. The fan, Carytown, Scotts Addition and downtown are all a short drive. The neighborhood feels safe.

I consider it to be decently upscale, you are next to a mall, grocery stores, work. Location is pretty nice, but in comparison to downtown richmond, there is a lot less to do in terms of young adult fun in my opinion.

I like how I am only a few minutes away from anything I need. I am very close to shopping areas on W Broad. It is also a short drive downtown. I feel like I can get anywhere in Richmond in 20 minutes.

Lots of grocery stores and chain restaurants in the area. Very safe. It may not be as exciting as the downtown area, but it is only a 10-minute drive away with the highways, and I would trade the excitement of downtown for the quietness of my current area. Not a lot of sidewalks if you want to go for a long walk or run though

I made several trips to Richmond to visit potential places to live and this was my favorite. I was looking for a place that is quiet, safe, and with a reasonable drive to class each day. It takes me 12-15 minutes to go from my front door to parking on campus, and my route is never backed up with the traffic that people in other parts of Richmond complain about!

My favorite thing about my quality of life here is that I live a 1-2 minute drive from Target, Kroger, Food Lion, Panera, Starbucks, CVS, Aldi, Wawa and more! It's so close that you can walk if you want to - I've done it on occasion. If you are looking for close proximity to restaurants and nightlife, this area in general is probably not what you're looking for. But if you want a quiet and safe neighborhood with easy access to convenient shopping, definitely consider this neighborhood!

Across from a business district. Grocery and shopping aren't too far away, but the location itself doesn't provide an authentic experience of Richmond. It is much more quiet than if you were to live in the Fan, but also lacks the experiences that come with that.

It really depends on what you want. If you want an active night life and bar scene this is NOT the place for you. This is a very suburban area with mostly families. There is however every chain store or restaurant you could imagine right along west broad street which my apartment is also off of. It close proximity to work is the greatest benefit.
