Five Points

"Sought-After Neighborhood that Offers a Unique Living Experience"
Five Points is one of Athens' most desirable neighborhoods, blending a charming residential feel with the vibrancy of a college town. This historic area is named for the intersection where Milledge Avenue, South Lumpkin Street, and Milledge Circle converge, creating a lively hub of activity and convenience. Living in Five Points offers a perfect mix of urban and suburban lifestyles. It's a tight-knit community where neighbors often know each other, fostering a welcoming atmosphere. The area is popular among families, professionals, and graduate students due to its proximity to the University of Georgia (UGA) and its tranquil, yet dynamic, environment. Five Points is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Athens. Residents enjoy easy access to local boutiques, coffee shops, grocery stores, and fitness centers. Additionally, several bus routes serve the neighborhood, providing quick connections to downtown Athens and other parts of the city.

Five Points — 8.8/10 Rating (based on 22 neighborhood reviews)
It is right off of Milledge, so a pretty safe area. We did have one instance in the area where some teenagers were trying to break into cars, but other than that, haven't had many issues. Even that night, the police were called and showed up probably only a minute or 2 after they were called, as they tend to sit around the corner somewhere along Milledge. There are some families that live around there and quite a few college students, and it is in a good position to nearby stores, restaurants, and campus.

It's not a real "neighborhood" but the townhome is in the Five Points area, which is a nice place to live. We can walk to a good variety of restaurants and other shops, and there is a campus bus stop within a 10-minute walk. It is a lively area towards the five points intersection but also quiet and residential in the other direction, which creates a nice balance.
The main issue is that it is an area popular with undergraduates, specifically those involved in Greek Life, so it can be a bit too rowdy, especially on football game days.

Pros:
-Location. Walking distance to school; walking distance to downtown (although it’s a longer walk); 5 minute drive from campus.
-Great access to shops, restaurants, major thoroughfares.
-Quiet and comfortable.

Cons:
-Be prepared to deal with the Raising Cane’s line continually causing problems at the Bloomfield/Baxter intersection.
