West University

Full of Coeds and Thrives on the University's Energy
West University, also known as West Campus, is a 15 minute walk from the heart of the University of Texas. The environment is as upbeat and vibrant as the coeds that frequent these highly populated streets. The diverse architecture includes apartments, bungalows, duplexes, mansion and uniquely designed homes. Here you will find a lot of shopping on The Drag, aka Guadalupe St, and a lot of fraternity and sorority houses sprinkled through out the residential area. Check out Fricano’s Deli or Kerby Lane Cafe for a bite to eat and a good cup of coffee. Stop by Hole in the Wall or Cain and Abel’s any weekend to have a college quality good time.

This is a college neighborhood and renters here are usually students at the University of Texas. They love that this part of the city never sleeps and are happy to be a part of the action.

West University — 7.9/10 Rating (based on 10 neighborhood reviews)
West Campus is where most of the undergraduate population at UT lives. Thus, it's somewhat noisy. However, a pair of earplugs for the occasional weekend night will solve that problem. It's really close to UT and, while it is on the opposite end of campus from the law school, there are several bus route that are free with your UT ID that take you very close to the law school. It also has restaurants and other things within easy distance.

Undergrad central but there are nice units (like mine) that make it worth it!
Costs vary depending on complex/property/management company.
Parking can be tough to find but get a complex that includes it at no extra charge if you can.
Walking distance to many things you might need is great (including a Target on campus!)
Do be careful walking home at night though, be vigilant of surroundings. It's not dangerous, per say, but it's not exactly a military base either.

West Campus is great. It's close to UT and Guadalupe. The parties can be very loud and younger kids can be very annoying on Saturdays. They will keep you up late at night and puke in your building's elevator.

Regents West
It is very close to the University and downtown, which is very convenient for a lot of things. There are parks and pretty easy access to buses and the highways.

The restaurant scene really depends on which side of the neighborhood you are in, but there are lots of good options even if none of them are super fancy. There are a lot of convenience stores, but they are expensive. The nearest laundromat closed.

The neighborhood is mostly full of undergrads, who can get pretty loud and disruptive on evenings and weekends. If you like the party scene this is great. If you prefer something quieter, consider looking somewhere else.

It’s right between Hyde park and north campus. You go a few blocks south and it’s more undergrad and less safe, a few blocks north and it’s more neighborhood and safer.

It can be a little loud, but it's not as loud as it was when I was in undergrad here. There are lots of restaurants and coffee shops, along with nail salons and barbers in walking distance, which is really convenient. There are also lots of shuttle lines through the area.

I think it's good because it is close to school. There are some homeless folks who come around sometimes, but they are harmless. I don't get so much noise from undergrads. Occasionally, some drunk folks pass by at night singing or acting up and I can hear them from my window, but it only lasts for a minute or two. Overall I have felt safe and I like the convenience.
