Hyde Park
Oasis of Small Town Charm
Hyde Park is a residential area in northern Austin filled with laidback natives and a strong sense of community. Locally owned bakeries, parlors, markets and other small businesses complement the quaint, picturesque architecture and tree-lined streets. Stop by local hotspots like Quack’s 43rd St Bakery, Flightpath Coffeehouse, and Mother’s Cafe.
Renters here love having separation from both the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin and the fast-paced (and sometimes noisy) scene on the University of Texas campus. Residents still maintain easy access to the city with reliable bus lines. Hyde Park is home to renters of all different ages who appreciate the family-friendly, community atmosphere.

Hyde Park —
8.7/10 Rating
(based on 29 neighborhood reviews)
Hyde Park is the cutest neighborhood in Austin. It is very walkable and has restaurants, book stores, grocery stores, and parks. It is particularly ideal for people living with partners or families. It is a 10 minute bus ride from campus.

Hyde Park is a lovely little neighborhood that actually feels like a neighborhood. A great compromise between being close to downtown but still within a reasonable distance to all the great stuff North Austin and the burbs provide.

It is very quiet and cozy. We are at the intersection of busy streets (Red River and 45th) but you don't really hear traffic and the neighbors are kind. It has a small neighborhood feel.

Super quiet neighborhood! My sense is that a lot of older college students i.e. grad students and older people live in Hyde Park.

Hyde Park rules. You can tell that most people who live there are either grad students/young professionals or old folks. I always see people walking dogs and going on jogs, and it's mostly very quiet. For being right next to busy and noisy Guadelupe, it's a nice quiet little community tucked into the city.

I love Hyde Park. I think it's ideal for a law student because it's close to school but far enough away that I'm not exclusively surrounded by law students. It's a nice cozy vibe with lots of restaurants/bars in walking distance.

Access to the 7 bus line straight to campus was great, and it's a short walk to North Loop restaurants and bars. I walked or took the bus to campus every day. The Hyde Park Shopping center is also great, with good food, a great bakery/coffee shop, and grocery store for quick trips. Hyde Park is a great residential neighborhood for walking/jogging (even though 45th St is pretty busy, and crosswalks are few and far between).

I like Hyde Park a lot. Great for taking walks around because there's a lot of low traffic volume streets. I live in North Hyde Park so I can't walk to class but biking only takes me about 10-15 minutes. Also Hyde Park has a lot of grocery options including Fresh Plus, Central Market, and HEB.
