Brickell

Downtown Waterfront Living
Brickell is a neighborhood just south of Downtown Miami and east of Coral Way. Known for its towering skyscrapers, lively nightlife, and stunning waterfront views, Brickell is one of the most vibrant and popular areas in Miami. In addition to its bustling nightlife and dining scene, Brickell is also home to several parks and green spaces, including Simpson Park and Alice Wainwright Park. These parks offer a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Brickell is just a short distance from both Florida International University (FIU) and the University of Miami. FIU is located approximately 10 miles west of Brickell and can be reached by car or public transportation in around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. The University of Miami, on the other hand, is located approximately 8 miles south of Brickell and can also be reached by car or public transportation in around 20-30 minutes.

Since the area is filled with high-rise apartment and condo buildings, rent prices tend to be reflect amenity-filled downtown living.

Brickell — 9.2/10 Rating (based on 17 neighborhood reviews)
Brickell is phenomenal. Lots to do, beautiful scenery, top bars/restaurants/activities. Quick access to lots of running/biking trails. UMMSM is 15 minutes away by car AND by metro (public transport in FL!!). Miami Beach is close by, and highways are easy to access to get to any other parts of the SoFlo region.

Love Brickell very much! Access to transit is super easy, many restaurant options, numerous grocery stores, and more. Traffic can get annoying and loud. I personally love city living, so this is a great place for those who also do.

It is a treat to live in Brickell, a truly unique neighborhood which is probably one of the most urban neighborhoods in the entire southeast. The buildings are all beautiful with incredible amenities and views of this beautiful city. Easy access to public transportation (metrorail, metromover, and miami trolley). There are also many restaurants, bars, and convenience stores right in the neighborhood. The area is still growing, and it will be exciting to see how it changes when the Brickell City Centre is complete.

All that said, this is still a developing neighborhood and hasn't yet reached maturity. Many units remain unoccupied, owned by foreign investors or foreigners looking for a pied-à-terre in the US (as in, they don't even rent them out!). Many restaurants are empty most of the time and turn over all the time, and while there are some great high end places, a lot of the more mid range offerings are highly commercialized designed in a boardroom type places with mediocre food and not the owner run small neighborhood joints that would give this neighborhood charm and character. It is definitely a highly walkable neighborhood, but not as walkable as it could be because of the condo "country club in the sky" kind of development with big pool complexes and huge parking garages. There are positives and negatives to that, but on street level it means less real estate for bars, stores, and restaurants. For all these reasons, people seeking a true urban environment will probably prefer Miami Beach or Coconut grove, even though the high-rises are far taller in Brickell. All that said, i think this neighborhood will continue to mature, with more full time residents moving in as people around the country discover what it has to offer.

The Club at Brickell Bay
I really enjoy being able to walk to and from work (<10 mins). Brickell has a decent restaurant/bar scene, but probably not the type of place you would often travel to for going out if you didn't already live here. Five years ago I might have considered living in South Beach -- but now with Uber in Miami, it is super convenient (<$15 ride) to make it over there to indulge in that scene when you want to while still enjoying the convenience of Brickell.

Area is lively and fun. My building is across the street from the metro rail and metro mover. Also close to major highways and other areas such as wynwood, Miami Beach, downtown and edgewater. Usually a 25 minute drive to FIU

Brickell is a great place to live (aside from the cost of living). There's always something going on and it's extremely walkable. There's nice places to go on a run or walk with friends. There are a ton of amazing restaurants and coffee shops. I especially love living in Brickell because of the medical student community - everyone lives fairly close to each other and we often run into one another at Capital One. Brickell is also close to school (10 min) and the beach.

Brickell is the hub in terms of being within walking distance to groceries, the mall, restaurants, and night life. You do not need a car to live here and you are within a 5-20 minute drive of almost all other areas of Miami (FIU, Hospitals for clinical rotations, AA arena, the beach, Coral Gables, etc).

Brickell is very convenient to/from the office. Many very nice apartment buildings in the area, and still being built close by. Lots of young people (students, young professionals) live here. Very walkable with many shops/gyms/restaurants close by. From a convenience standpoint, the biggest downside is that there is not much free parking in the area (Mary Brickell Village especially).

I think Brickell is a nice place to live however it is very expensive. There are a lot of students who live in the area so it is nice to be close to others, but the costs are high.
