Walking distance to everything!

Living downtown is an amazing experience that everyone should get to enjoy at least once. I love being able to walk to Pike Place, shopping, restaurants and more. Also, being in the city means there are endless options for food delivery services!

Onto the apartment building: firstly, it has a POOL! I believe it is one of the only in the city with an outdoor pool and it's friggin amazing for summer time. Plus it gets great sunlight. There is a room with a tanning bed which I thought was amazing when I first moved in, but then became more health conscious. It has a great gym that is spacious and clean. The apartment units themselves are very pleasant as well. Some have fireplaces. Some have large laundry rooms. Ours has a little den.

What I dislike about this building are a few things: the upkeep. There have been broken door locks, trash in stairwells, other various things that go unfixed for months. The "dog park" is absolutely disgusting. They lined the alley way with fake grass for you to take your dog, it's gated off and safe (seems nice, right?) but it stinks of urine and anal glands. I NEVER take my dog there because I don't want her paws tracking that nastiness back into my home. Finally, the neighborhood has really gone downhill over the last few years. There are so many bums and questionable people setting up tents on the sidewalks outside of the building. They leave their trash and needles everywhere and it makes me uncomfortable to walk down the street. My husband doesn't want me to take the dog out after dark.

Review for Berkshire

Staffs are friendly. But have few problems with bugs over the couple months after move in. Management team has made their best effort to help us solve the problem. The location is great considering the price range in the neighborhood. I personally don't have pet but this property is very pet friendly.

Overall good experience. Management staffs are fairly responsive to various request in a timely manner. Could do better. Sometimes they don't follow up back actively. But once you drop-in and/or push for an answer about a pending request, they reply.

Great Mgmt Staff

I was concerned about moving here because of some not great reviews I read online, but my experience has been great. The management staff is friendly and attentive, they respond quickly to issues, and they make living here really easy.
That being said; maintenance is a different story. If you happen to have the full time maintenance supervisor respond to your request, consider yourself lucky. The problem will be solved efficiently and the workmanship is acceptable. If you get anyone else on his staff, be prepared to submit more requests until he responds and fixes whatever they managed to make worse.
Fire alarm system is sensitive, great if there's a fire... terrible if your drunk neighbor is making food at midnight. Most neighbors are quiet and courteous, the ones who aren't don't stay long.
All in all, I'd recommend it. Pet friendly, close to Pike Place and the waterfront, and if you don't mind hiking up the hill it's a great location for downtown/belltown social events.
