Good value, can make it your own
While the building itself leaves more to be desired (upkeep, appearance), the studio has decent and modern finishes (stainless steel, finished concrete), quality natural light, and a convenient and quiet location. For the money, I'm happy with it.

There's a lot of places that are walking distance, but it's a little noisy at night.
Undergrad central but there are nice units (like mine) that make it worth it!
Costs vary depending on complex/property/management company.
Parking can be tough to find but get a complex that includes it at no extra charge if you can.
Walking distance to many things you might need is great (including a Target on campus!)
Do be careful walking home at night though, be vigilant of surroundings. It's not dangerous, per say, but it's not exactly a military base either.

West Campus is great. It's close to UT and Guadalupe. The parties can be very loud and younger kids can be very annoying on Saturdays. They will keep you up late at night and puke in your building's elevator.
It is very close to the University and downtown, which is very convenient for a lot of things. There are parks and pretty easy access to buses and the highways.
The restaurant scene really depends on which side of the neighborhood you are in, but there are lots of good options even if none of them are super fancy. There are a lot of convenience stores, but they are expensive. The nearest laundromat closed.
The neighborhood is mostly full of undergrads, who can get pretty loud and disruptive on evenings and weekends. If you like the party scene this is great. If you prefer something quieter, consider looking somewhere else.

Loud, dirty, expensive. No charm, but good access to campus. One mile from grocery store, not counting Target. Bus access is pretty okay. A lot of overflowing trash and fraternities are noisy.
Noisy, untidy, lots of undergrad students around in West Campus. ALthough, if you like an energetic environment, you might like it.
Some incidents near UT campus happened but didn't witness them
West Campus is where most of the undergraduate population at UT lives. Thus, it's somewhat noisy. However, a pair of earplugs for the occasional weekend night will solve that problem. It's really close to UT and, while it is on the opposite end of campus from the law school, there are several bus route that are free with your UT ID that take you very close to the law school. It also has restaurants and other things within easy distance.
