Good place close to the law school
Close to the law school, convenient, nice amenities, and outside area. It's right next to the train so it can get loud when it crosses during the day/night.

Love it
Great place away from the law school and a ton of tailgates happen here for football games due to it being close to the stadium

Fine amenities but admin could be improved
The Yard is a nice quality building, but the management is not the most responsive. They do not remind you to pay rent prior to charging a late fee, and often the office is closed at random hours, which prevents residents from picking up their packages.

It is about a 12-minute walk to the law school.

Expensive, but worth it
Pros of living at The Yard are (1) location, (2) safety/security, and (3) convenience. Only about a 10 min walk to campus. I feel extremely safe in and around the building. Having maintenance and management handle any complications makes frees up time to focus on law school. Management has generally been helpful. My apartment is clean and quiet. The only con is the price--I pay more for my studio at the Yard than I did for something comparable in NYC. That said, the cost is worth it to me for the pros mentioned above, and I plan to remain at The Yard for my entire three years at law school.

Can be worth the rent, not really tho
Pro: tailgates and pool and courtyard area is cool. Conducive to socializing bc the court yard and pool is in the center of the complex.
Cons: the circular design sucks to live in. one trash chute. But that can all be overcome. The real con here is the management.

Sanity problem highly concerned
When I transferred into a new unit in the Yard (615 S Main Street, Ann Arbor), the room looks terribly awful and this is no exaggeration. Clearly someone just moved out and they didn't clean it at all before letting me move in, which was later confirmed by the staff who went to check my room and there were even left belongings of the last renter. There were a lot of disgusting trash in both common area and my new room. There were even rusty nails on the carpet, let alone countless hair and thick dust everywhere. You can even see bugs and flies on your mattress and kitchen table. Unwashed pots and dishes were lying all over the place and there were lots of oil spots on the counter. And there were so many white paint spots on the mattress and chair that took me half an hour to clean. The air quality was so bad that I started to cough and sneeze. The oil on the stove had congealed so sick that I tried to wipe it off for twenty minutes in vain. The living room has a strange smell. The drains in the kitchen sink and bathtub are broken and rusty. Chunks of wall have come off but not repainted. And I have no idea how long those soy-colored marks have been on the floor and they're sticky when I step on them.
Words can hardly describe the cleanliness of this room. This is the dirtiest and most disgusting room I've ever seen, and I'm not happy with it. When I asked the staff why they hadn't cleaned my room, they in turn asked me why I had moved in, saying that this room hadn't been cleaned in the first place, but I had received an email from the apartment asking me to check in that day, and no one can answer why the room they had given me hadn't been cleaned yet. What's worse, they threw out items from the common areas of my old unit without my permission.
When I asked them if they could clean my new room right now, unfortunately the response was, and I quote, very unlikely. One of the staff said she'd talk back to me later but it has been two days since I checked in, nobody gets back to me and I feel physically sick due to the unsanitary condition of this room.
I spent two full days cleaning the common space and my room and still couldn't do it to a satisfactory level, and it wasn't supposed to be my workload. The staff at this apartment should be ashamed of making such a mistake and should fix the problem as soon as possible instead of thinking it's okay or just ignoring it.
I feel this treatment is very unfair, and I demand a reasonable solution and compensation.

Predatory pricing!
They essentially charge you for August - a month where you only stay in the apartment for 4 days! They don’t prorate the rent for August. Insane predatory pricing and hidden terms in contract!

Mediocre at best
The Yard... exists. It is close and convenient to campus and the building itself is fine - good pool, amenities, apartments themselves, etc. That said, the building's on-site management is woefully bad. Unresponsive to emails/calls, charges added to accounts with no explanation. Similarly, the building has become over-run with undergrads. The floors, hallways, common areas, and elevators are always dirty and in the 3+ years I've lived here - I've never seen any general building maintenance.
