MPP is fine
MPP is just fine to live for two years as an unemployed grad student. It's not perfect (slow elevators, lacks modern amenities, no central a/c), but I think the price reflects all of that. It's also great from a social and convenience factor to live near your classmates.

Does the Trick
Our apartment has some upgrades and the building is fine, but there are a lot of maintenance and management issues that need to be resolved.

It’s ok
The apartment is fine, but nothing special for the price. Management are passive aggressive and maintenance is shoddy (elevators on the fritz, falling ceiling tiles...)

This place is old and falling apart
I don’t feel safe living in this building anymore. The building is clearly very old and it is not well maintained. The walls are paper thin and the insulation is terrible (my apartment does not get above 65 in the winter). There are layers and layers of dirt and dust and weird smells everywhere.
The gym is not impressive - no free weights and machines are constantly breaking. Also no internet or cell service in the gym.
Oh, and the elevators are constantly breaking, which management shows a dangerous disregard for.
DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Excellent
Pros:
Excellent location - super, super close to the metra and other attractions
Big space - spatial apartment definitely enough for a couple and two pets
Proximity to fellow students - more than half of Boothies live here - not only is it convenient for group work, but super convenient for carpooling in the winter
Staff - Staff super responsive to requests
Cons:
Can have thicker walls - can hear neighbor partying at 2 AM; however staff super responsive to help stop the noise
Can have better lighting

Newly renovated apartments with amazing Millenium Park view
We just moved into Millenium Park Plaza about a month ago, and we have had a great experience so far. While the apartment building itself is older, the units are all newly renovated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors. The natural light is incredible and we have an astonishing view of Millenium Park, Michigan Ave, the Bean, and the Lake.

Newly renovated units, amazing view of Millenium Park
We just moved in a month ago, and have had a great experience so far. The internet is very good and included in rent, and the unit has beautiful wood floors, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. Our electric bill is the only utility bill we pay, and it was extremely affordable for July. It really is a beautiful apartment! The building itself is older, but the units are newly renovated. Amazing dishwasher, so much counter space, an ideal apartment for entertaining. People love coming over and are always astounded by our south east/west view of the Bean, Millenium Park, Grant Park, Michigan Ave, and the lake.

Poorly Managed, Great Value for the Location
The management team and door staff are entirely incompetent, rude, and
not personable. However, I enjoy living a 5 minute walk from my office for such a low price. The amenities are sufficient and I enjoy the rooftop views of Millennium Park and the lake. However, I regularly come home with several bags of groceries and the door staff won't press a button at their desk to open the door for me because "I have a key and hands so I can put my groceries down and open it myself", which I think is rude to say to a resident.

The Loop Reviews
Very close to the lake and navy pier
Great park surrounded by all the buildings.
There’s good supermarket that has everything. A couple restaurants and coffee shops are also there.
That being said, if you're anywhere near State St. or the Mag mile, there's pretty much people around at any given hour. It's fun to live downtown because the streets are bustling with interesting people, sometimes there's live music on street corners and there are a lot of restaurants and shops.
