MPP is a fine place to live

MPP is nothing special but gets the job done. My only main complaint is with the elevators. They can take forever to grab one and sometimes aren’t working.

MPP is good enough but you can find better

It's an old building with old fixtures. Can find a better facility but the downside is that for most social events you will be coming to MPP. So choose based on what matters more to you.

Spacious, fairly good layout, good front desk security

MPP is a pretty good place to live. It has its disadvantages but certainly advantages too. The apartments are quite spacious, the security and maintenance people are timely and helpful, and it is the main apartment building where Booth students live so is most convenient for group meetings, gatherings, parties, etc. Disadvantages include the small, outdated gym (but at least there is one!), communal laundry machines which I don’t think work that well, and the fact the apartments themselves look a bit old compared to some of the fancier buildings nearby. However, given the fact MPP is cheaper than the surrounding apartment buildings, I’m OK with these things.

Spacious apartment, community spaces only okay

I love my studio - it is amazingly large and plenty of space for one person. I even have room for a pull-out sofa and am able to host friends when they are in town. The kitchen is also spacious and has granite counters and stainless steel appliances. Everything was clean and in working order when I moved in. When I've had issues, maintenance is quick to respond and resolves things fully.

Things that could be better: The elevators are very slow, communal space isn't very nice, and the gym in the building is small with limited equipment and is usually too crowded for the number of people who want to work on a weeknight.

That being said - the location is great, the building is nice, and I definitely love being at the heart of the Booth community. It is a 30 second walk to get to the train that goes to Hyde Park, its a 10 minute walk to Gleacher, and restaurants and grocery stores are easy to get to.

It's not where you are but whom you're with

MPP is an older building and not quite as nice as the other alternatives in the area in a similar price range. However, most Boothies live here so most parties, study groups etc. will be here and the Metra is just across the street. If you are new to Chicago and don't know any better, this is the place for you.

Fine for business school

The pros: Great location, decent-looking apartments, and the maintenance staff is very good/timely in addressing issues. Gym floor with pool, free yoga classes.

The cons: The elevators are a serious issue (they break down too frequently, and are generally slow), carpeted bedrooms. The laundry facilities are not great. Very noisy from street drummers.

You Get What You Pay For

Not the best apartment, not the worst. Affordable. You get what you pay for in terms of amenities etc. Management can be a pain at times.

Convenient Location, not great quality

Location is great. The Metra station (Millennium Station, which you take to get to Hyde Park) is just across the street (no traffic), and almost everything you need is in walking distance. Gleacher Center is 10min walk. Also very convenient because so many Boothies live here, so you can go to study-groups and parties in your room-wear (important in winter).
Elevators are not good.Interior is fine, but wish we had more sockets. Wifi is OK. If you live on the east-side and on the higher floors, street noise is not a problem.

The Loop Reviews

Very secure and tranquil. Very close to public transportations. Namely millennium station which I use to ride the Metra trains to campus.
Very close to the lake and navy pier
Great park surrounded by all the buildings.
There’s good supermarket that has everything. A couple restaurants and coffee shops are also there.
Amazing place to have a social life! It is super close to Gleacher and to where recruiting events take place. Most Boothies live in this area and that helps creating a nice community. West loop with amazing restaurants is 2 metro stops/5min uber. TNDCs also happen walking distance. Its also where most touristic attractions are so its great for when friends/family visit you.
Safe neighborhood and good because it’s where most Booth students live but it’s a little sterile esp at night. Lots of tourists around. I would not live in this neighborhood if most other students didnt live here. However it is convenient to get to most places around chicago. In the middle of everything
Columbus plaza is on the quieter side, a few blocks away from Michigan. Tides and park millennium are even quieter but lack the river views that CP offers. It can be a bit too empty at night, which may be of concern to some. Most of the nearby restaurants in the pedway focus on serving office workers so they close around 6pm. Great access to river walk for running or biking.
The Loop has pros and cons. Living in the Loop is nice because during the day up until about 8 p.m. there are people walking around the streets which is nice because you feel more secure walking. However, on weekends and after a certain time at night it empties and it can be a little eerie.

That being said, if you're anywhere near State St. or the Mag mile, there's pretty much people around at any given hour. It's fun to live downtown because the streets are bustling with interesting people, sometimes there's live music on street corners and there are a lot of restaurants and shops.
Beautiful area in a great location with a dog park, playground, and full service grocery store in short walking distance. Restaurants and transit are just ok in this area, but not a bad walk to the "L" and that opens up the restaurant options. No close-by childcare for kids under preschool age, but great preschool and private elementary school, with high price tags. Ubers often find this place impossible to locate due to GPS's going crazy with the multiple layers of Wacker, Randolph, Columbus, and East South Water Street.
The Loop is an unlikely place to live but I love it. You are in the heart of the city, close to every L line possible, very good restaurants and walking distance to River North without paying River North prices for apartments. Apartments are smaller throughout the neighborhood but if you are an urbanite and don't mind limited closet space you will love it here. Mostly everyone is walking distance to work.
Great location close to blue, brown, green, pink, orange and red lines. 10 minute walk to State St., 5-10 minutes to River North, 15 minutes to Michigan Avenue. Grocery stores aren't really walkable but most people in the building use PeaPod/Instacart. Safe to walk around at night. A lot of new restaurants (quick service) opening in the area.
